Help With Sig P226 Sight

cingrisano, what sight picture are you using? Unlike many other gunmakers, SIGs are set up to use sight image #3 (see Mystro's post) so using either of the other two will result in shooting low.

Do you have night sights? Are there no other numbers on your sights? I don't believe MH3 is the sight #. As has been mentioned previously, 9mm SIGs normally have #8 sights front and rear. An increase of 1 number in the rear sight raises the POI by 2" at 25 yds and an increase of 1 number in the front sight raises the POI by 1".

it is sad for that price and quality gun that this is an issue. my sights have on them MH3, front and back sights.

so maybe i have to get a higher # for the rear sight only to raise the 5" drop at 25'?

It's you. 5" low at 25 feet would be a comically tall front sight or a rear sight below the top of the slide.

Btw, 2012 was a while ago. Generally advisable to start a new thread rather than revive a 3 year old one where the readers would have to scroll down to find your question buried.

As wssigs said MH3 is not the sight number.

M = Meprolight (the manufacturer)
H3 = tritium (the radioactive material in the sight)

If you look more closely (and with some extra light) you should be able to see some very small numbers on the sight also. Like a 6, an 8, or some such.

How wide were your groupings at 25 feet(~7 yards)?

Don't give up on that Sig in its current configuration yet! You'll see on the forum lots of advise to be methodical and not to change things too fast when diagnosing a problem, too many variables. It sounds like this is a new gun to you. I would in addition to bench resting, letting other experienced shooters try, switch factory ammo brands and bullet weights.

Also give it more trigger time. 100 rounds is very little. The harder you trained with whatever pistol before this, the more time it will take to get used to the different trigger, sight picture, and ergonomics.
