I'm very impressed with the .243 Win. I handload Hornady GMX solid gilding metal bullets and we've had nothing but one-shot kills to 200 yards.
If you use factory ammo, be sure to use 100 grain bullets, unless you know that other weights were designed for deer. Most 80-90 grain bullets are designed for lighter varmints and not suitable for deer-sized game.
