Just got a used FEG PA-63. It's fun, but I'm looking for something with a little more quality and reliability. What do you think?

BTW, I don't carry or plan to shoot anything buy paper (and if I did, it wouldn't be with this gun). So the Kahrs and such aren't really an option. I'm going for a pistol with those classic lines.

No I won't sell mine. Not ever. I had a Russian to go along with my East German Mak but, I sold it to a VERY close friend. Get a Mak. I love mine. Carry it daily. East German Maks Rule!

I'm going for a pistol with those classic lines.

Then get one with classic lines. Check the auction sites for a real German PPK or the French PPK made under contract with, I think Manhurin.

I have shot and owned a couple of the above...just my opinion.

My dads walther was a good gun. Would have a FTE once in a while and would bite my hand....badly at times...not impressive
for such a highly praised gun....very comfy though.

The feg line...ppk/ppks sized are the smc/pmk series. They have
a reputation as being as good mechanically as walthers...some
say a little better. I have fired the smc series...the guns I shot, I
would carry. Dependable, small and accurate.

Makarov. The tank of pistols...dependable and accurate. A little bigger and ammo may be a prob. depending on where you live.
Not really the PPK style/ different lines

Cz 83..not as small as the walther/feg/bersa..style. This is my fav.
Shoots better than many guns that are twice as much. Carries 13 rnds..etc, etc Same as Mak, not really the PPK style.

Sig 230/232...nice gun. Same style and size as the walther ppk.
I have shot a few. They are a sig, pricey and nice.
I have heard some people say they arent built as strong as they should be and hollow point feeding issues...but that may be just talk....

Bersa .380 no personal experience..local dealers seem to hold them in pretty high regards and say local LE use them as a B/U
at times. Priced a little more than a similar FEG.....

Hope this helps...shoot well

Get a real PPK!!! Not the American made crap, but a real Deutsch Walther PPK!!! That way, if you do decide to carry it, you won't have to look for another "carry" gun!!! Also, get the 9mm kurtz rather than the 7.65mm. You will be better off in the long run!!!:)

Really, if you want to play James Bond, I would get the P99!!!;)

None of my Maks are for sale!!!!;)

Just a small note guys...Most blued Walther PP/PPK pistols now are made by FEG, Hungary and sold under Walther's name.

As for the quality of the original Walthers we have a 50+ year old WWII model at our range which is still fully operational and reliable.

Just for the hell of it, SOG has new 230 sigs in .32 for 299.00$
with 2 mags ....fits the bill and the price is right..shoot well

Take a look at the Bersa .380. I sure am kicking myself for not taking one at the last gun show...

Regards,

New_comer;)

Get a Kahr MK9. It's smaller than either a PPk or a Sig 232. It's full 9mm power, rather than just .380. The magazine release is a proper thumb button, rather than the Sig's hard to use heel release. It's a proper locked breech design, rather than a hard recoiling blowback. Good sights. Smooth trigger.

I shot my EG Mak today for the first time. 200 rounds and not a single FTF, FTE, or any other FT. It even shot great with the Hornady XTP rounds. I love this gun:) Best 170.00 I ever spent.

You already have one of the best. It may need some tender loving care from a Smith, perhaps not. There is only one step up from where you are in my opinion. An East German Makarov in 9x18. And the ammo is very easy to find. Just order a few cases every couple of months. In about 300 years, the Makarov may be starting to show some wear though if you shoot it all.

The Kahr K9 in 9mm is a solid little gun. I'd pick it over a PPK
anyday for reliability and shootability. The ammo's cheaper by
1/3 too. And the Kahr carries a lifetime warranty.

That said: No. You can't have either of my Maks. But if they
ever reproduce, I'll give you first dibs on one of their offspring.
(People look at me funny when I say that I like to buy handguns
in pairs ..... why? ...... I really don't know.) :D

Vote for Bersa here

I would definitly vote for Bersa or Firestorm. I'm not kicking myself...I did pick one up at the last gunshow! ;)
