Help me decide HK or Sig

I'm a HK fanboy, therefore lean that way, but in this case $750 for an older USPc is too much IMHO. I'd pass and wait to see the new P30sk which is supposed to be about the same money.

The USPc is a great gun, but it should be closer to $600, and the odd ad statement gives me pause, (something isn't right there).

Well, if you're looking for a good striker-fired pistol, the HK VP9 is outstanding. Just recently purchased and love it. I haven't had a chance to handle the P320 so I can't speak on that.

But the VP9 is outstanding. Not if I can only get a hold of some spare mags...

Owned a H&K P30s, worst trigger I ever used, I think (at 77 I've pullled a bunch of triggers). Other than that, it was superb. Presently own several SIG's; the German models are better, IMO, than the US models. I like them all; love the X-Series models.

Also own several H&K's, most of which are USP's Tactical and Expert Models selected for their match triggers and "O" ring barrels. IMO the USP's are as good (accurate and reliable) as the X-Series SIG's; and they are less expensive, anywhere from a half to a third the price of an X-Series. However, the H&K's use plastic where most SIG's (m/b all?) use steel in the frames. That matters to some people. I will concede the SIG's are prettier than the H&K's.

I shoot all of the guns regularly; visit the range twice a week, most weeks.

While many folks do not like the H&K trigger, I like mine just fine. I like it a LOT better than my sig 226. And there is always the H&K match trigger as an upgrade.
bottom line for me is always something no one mentions: with which one do you hit the 10 ring the most often? For me that is definitely the H&K. Your mileage may vary.
I also don't see how the compact would have an "expert" barrel since the expert is considerably longer.
this particular used gun does not sound like a bargain. I would look around a little more. There are plenty of better deals

Shoot a Sphinx SDP...Absolutely NO comparison!!! Sphinx firearms are manufactured every part from billet, extreme reliability and accuracy and Swiss engineered. I'm a certified armorer for HK, Glock and Sig. Carried all 3 during my 21 yr career and to this day there's never been a firearm built on extreme tight tolerances, extreme reliability scary accuracy say perhaps the Sig P-210. I carried the HKP7M13 for the last several years and still carry an HKMP5A3 sub-gun for entry. But, my sidearm now and in the near future will be a Sphinx. I have put 11,500 rounds through the SDP to date with prior extreme endurance tests and torture testing from range personnel and we have tried to get the Sphinx to fail..It will not malfunction!! I've also shot 1,550 rounds through my Sphinx Subcompact back-up and 100% reliability and scary accuracy. Call Joe @ Kriss/Sphinx USA and speak to him about manufacturing requirements from Swiss Sphinx, he's a great guy to talk to. It's utterly amazing the quality of these firearms. Trust this statement that this pistols build quality will force other POPULAR manufacturers to step up their quality and standards. They will have no choice or forums like this will point it out. No MIM parts or sub-standard parts or cheaper materials like others. Sphinx is Swiss engineered and every part is from billet. If you want a firearm to bet your life on and will not fail try a Sphinx!!

I prefer the striker fired to the double action but they are both GREAT pistols. I have an HK VP9 that has taken over most of my shooting time...They may be worth a look as well...

I have both and love both.

I am very impressed with my HK45. Here is a 50,000 round endurance test done on one by Todd Green. Talk about a pistol you can depend on!!

"The HK45 fired its first 31,522 rounds without a bobble of any kind, another pistol-training.com endurance test record. But the mere fact that it out-performed those other pistols tells only part of the story. I do not believe another .45 pistol could fire that many rounds, in that short a time, with that little maintenance, and survive. Anonymous internet chest-thumpers notwithstanding, fifty thousand rounds of full power 230gr ammo through a .45 pistol in eight months is staggering."

"The pistol was only cleaned seven times during the entire test, going 10,181 rounds between cleanings at one point.

My final thoughts on the gun:

Shootability: Let’s face it, nothing else matters if you can’t shoot the gun well. The HK45 proved far more performance-oriented than I gave it credit for at the beginning of the test. High bore axis? Not an issue. Heavy recoiling 230gr hardball? No problem. Sub-2 second Bill Drills from concealment? Hell yeah:"
