Help Identify Ammo...

HKSig,

I don't think ANYONE is sure what factory No. 52 was... The Soviets were kind of closed mouth about that sort of thing... :)

The cartridge could also be, I believe, Yugoslavian or Bulgarian if it contains Cyrillic characters. They followed Soviet headstamp practices for some years.

Yup, you're right Mark. Could be one of the former communist block countries as well.

And probably is an '11' instead of a misidentified Cyrillic D.

HKColt, (hey, you called me Mark, I get to call you Colt :D)

When I finally get around to buying a digital camera, one of the acid tests I have for it will be whether it has decent enough resolution to show a cartridge headstamp clearly.

Interestingly enough, even some of the high-priced cameras don't have enough resolution for that.

I just checked resolution with my Olympus D-460, and it does a great job on cartridge heads.

If you are lucky, you can find one at your local target on clearance for $175. A great camara for all around picture taking.
