Help Choose! Glock or Kimber?

Hmm....

Drag it though the dirt and come out just fine....

One ragged hole and a sweet trigger...

Tough choice.

OBTW, whoever mentioned the Sig 220, MMMMMM, just shot one for the first time the other day, and now I'm a lustin'. :) That's one accurate, gentle shootin', ergonomic, fast shot recovery, .45!

Nifer, have you shot either of these yet?
If so, what were your impressions?

I really like the low bore of the Glock, but I cannot and will not stand that trigger, except for an occasional rental for fun.

As far as concealed carry, it BETTER be cold weather, cause you need a parka to hide that 2x4 in your pants.

Maybe I'm lucky, but I got a barely used stainless Kimber Compact for the price of a Glock, and have not had any trouble.
I know some spend $700, then put more into it.
Some of that may be Accurizing, which shouldn't be considered when comparing to Glocks.
Also, there's a certain virus that comes with a 1911 that makes you WANT to spend money on it.
(Thus proving once again my theory that 1911's are female.)

For Home defense, either should be fine.

I'd take a revolver just as quick, assuming you have a long gun to get to within 6 shots.

As far as range time goes, mine rents them for free, so I'm not buying one based on that.

Glock - $550
Kimber - $600

The Wilson is basically a BUL frame with some of his parts thrown in. The Kimber is the one you want, just go get it.

"The Wilson is basically a BUL frame with some of his parts thrown in."

And an external extractor, and a much thinner grip.

I wouldn't dismiss it out-of-hand without at least fondling it first.
I've heard great things about how they shoot, too.

Get the 1911!! I am sitting pondering sort of the same question, which Glock to get? I own a 1911, I have a pretty solid 9mm, I use to own a Glock 27 but sold it and now regretting it. Do I want another .40, 9mm, .45 or even 10mm:confused:

Yes, I admit to not being a huge glock fan... however, I can not deny that they are light enough to carry, accurate out of the box, extremely reliable and tough as nails. That is why I want one. I think my collection needs at least 1 in it.

Weshoot2, you hit the nail on the head. I am going with the Glock 17 for now, and saving for a Les Baer or Wilson CQB. I have a birthday right after Christmas, and told everyone just to give me cash :D Also, looks like I will be digging through the sports memorabilia collection to see what needs to be listed on eBay. Thanks for the input.

Something to consider also.

Before I buy something I'm not 100% certain of, I always check out what's for sale on the used market.

People sell lots of Glocks.
You hardly ever see a used Kimber.

Even though there's a ton more new Glocks sold than new Kimbers, stuff like that usually means that Kimber buyers tend to stay Kimber owners. It also means, that "gasp, heaven forbid" if you don't like a Kimber (or 1911) it'll be that much easier to turn.

Just some food for thought.

I, like others here, am fortunate enough to own both. The Kimber PRO CDP came first, and is my favorite, but the G22 is my regular toter.
Reason being- I got the Glock from a friend of mine after it was stolen, and then recovered, so the finish is a little rough. The Kimber is such a good-looking piece I'm trying to minimize wear and tear(I tote it when I "dress up").
Am I weird or what?

Buy the Kimber & take it home - leave the Glock at the store.

No better pride in ownership than a well built 1911 in .45ACP!
