hello, my name is dan, and i have an addiction...

a couple years ago, I was gona start saving for a new truck.... now it's today, and tomorrow I'm gona start saving for a new truck.... right?

You might regret that addiction when you are ready to retire, and wonder where your money went.

I think this is possible, but it depends on what you buy and how much you pay. Its hard to make any blanket statements about gun futures without specific guns in mind, and even then, sometimes surprising things happen with supply in demand. For example, did anyone predict in say the 1960s that Colt would fall off the face of the earth as far as production, and most of their guns would sky rocket in price in less than 50 yrs?

For me, my addiction reached another plane of existence when I got my C&R license. Since I like older guns anyways, it made sense. Now I can shop online, and have 50 yr old handguns sent directly to my house. Also, anyone who enforces a transfer for antique guns accepts a C&R license. In addition, I don't pay transfer fees since I'm not subject to a background check for a gun that meets the criteria. This made acquisitions much more convenient for me, which increased my addiction ;)

Hello loose_holster_dan,,,

it seems like any time i have some cash lying around, i think to myself, "i think it's time for a new gun."

Why are you acting as if that were a bad thing?

Don't buy into the "If one does it a lot it must be an addiction and therefore bad" attitude.

This is America,,,
Land of the free-to-go-to-hell-in-a-handbasket-of-your-own-choosing.

I prefer to think of it as a healthy passion rather than an addiction! I still have guns I want, but I've gotten to the point where I realized I need to spend more time and money shooting the guns I have rather than acquiring more guns. Especially since we just bought a house, I'm going to be practicing with my 22s more than anything... having pretty toys is all well and good, but if I can't use them properly they're just pretty paperweights!

You are not a lone, every time I have money saved I just buy another gun (-: I cannot control myself, I know its a good investment and I think better than gold because I can use it and defend my life with a gun. Bullets + guns = gold/trade value. I bought a few guns this year and my parents are like why not save? I am like I am lol. With the economy the way it is, I trust metals more so than paper bills. ;)

I don't buy big tv's, new laptop, computer every year. I save my money for shooting and collecting more guns. I keep trying tell my father to stop buying so many movies and save for another gun.

I try not to shoot much, even though I been once or twice every month this year.... I just keep it to .22lrs now to save money. I stopped with the shotgun and expensive rifle round shooting. Shotgun 100 round packs are $20~$25 where 22lr 500 packs $20.

I promised myself ... no more guns, at least for now. Wait 1 year, then if I still wanted a new one, ok.

The other day, I drove for 2 hrs to get there & 2 hrs back ... to buy a gun I've been wanting a long time and gave up on finding what I wanted, and a guy offerred to sell me one at a really good price. It's gorgeous and in superb condition (99%).

OK, it lasted 2 months, but IT'S REALLY A GOOD GUN.

We all understand.... unfortunately.

Just bought two last month.

Now the list is down to
1.) sending the G19 to Bowie to have it worked over.
2.) Buying a AR upper, and lower parts kit to finish off the lower i bought a few years ago.
3.) Ruger Super redhawk in 454
4.) High Standard military citation.
5.) AK of some sort.
6.) Compact 1911 for carry. possibley a CBOB

My other addiction is Kayak fishing.
1.) Jackson Coosa kayak
2.) Bait caster.
3.) new casting rod.
4.) soft baits, spinners, tubes, and more.

Im pretty sure the wife will eventually go crazy and shoot me/divorce me, or finally give in and let me do what i want. Im hoping for the later. :D

My gun hobby is one of the three hobbies that form an Unholy Triology on my finances.

I'm still in very good financial shape, but if I didn't participate in those three hobbies and was a complete cheapskate, I could have a ton of cash lying around by now. But maybe I wouldn't really care if I lived or not if all I did was work and save, work and save, no reward.

Life is short fellas, you won't always have the opportunity to do the things you love...
