held the new 3" LCR yesterday...

Yeh, alotta good things can be said about it, but still guys, that gun is still soul-suckingly ugly to the bone. Ya gotta see that. I can't be the only one. Life is too short to suffer an ugly gun.

I agree its ugly. But after getting a regular lcr I would love to have one in 357. and also a 22lr would be just what I am wanting. Please ruger make one in 22lr. I will buy it.

I have no idea what Ruger intended, but I use mine as a woods gun, and in that role, the adjustable rear is mandatory. The .38 will take small game cleanly as well as dispatch feral dogs and other varmints with ease.

I'd much rather be able to set my sights to match the POI of a favorite load, rather than have to remember some kentucky windage, or only shoot whatever weight/load the factory regulated open sights for.

In a carry gun, like my 2" LCRX, it doesn't matter quite so much, as I carry +P loads that shoot close to POA.

What about .327 instead of .32 h&r mag?
This comes up often. Not strong enough, the 327 Federal SAAMI pressures are higher than 357 Magnum.
327 Federal Magnum=45,000 psi
357 Magnum= 35,000
Make note that 44 Magnum SAAMI pressure maximum is 36,000 psi

I bought the 3" barrel LCR-X after I sold my LCR .38 special with Crimson Trace sights and the 1 and 7/8" barrel. The more I shot the LCR snubby, the more I disliked it. First on the list was the miniature grip which was next to useless in my large hands. I could barely get two fingers on it and it didn't do much to absorb recoil. It was lighter than it had to be for carry and that didn't help either with 158gr practice loads. The Crimson Trace grip would not stay zeroed for more than 6-12 shots. After that it would point off zero up to a foot or two from 12-15 feet away from the target. I can't understand how Crimson Trace sells these contraptions for $300 and people buy them. Finally the trigger had a funky reset. It was easier to short-stroke than my SW 638.

On to the LCR-X 3" barrel. It is still a very light gun, but the longer grip allows a better purchase on the gun, more accurate shots, and less felt recoil. The adjustable sights are good and the front sight is partially painted white in the area that shows when it is properly aligned with the rear sight. I consider this a nice feature.

The longer barrel of the LCR-X 3" means a bit less muzzle flip and better shot velocity. The trigger is better than my LCR and resets more positively.

One thing I notice with the LCR-X 3" is more felt torque in the grip, especially with firing bullets weighing more than 125gr. It is certainly controllable but I never noticed torque with the LCR 1 and 7/8".

Now I'm looking for an IWB holster that will fit that will fit the 3" barrel. This is a good kit gun and hiking gun, a decent home-defense backup revolver, and maybe a decent concealed carry gun for us taller folks.
