Heizer Mfg.

Please forgive me if there is a thread on this somewhere, or an article but what exactly did the "inventor" of the double tap, actually invent? It's a tilt barrel derringer with double action trigger that cycles through the 2 barrels. This is neither novel, or new.

I know they have 7 patents filed on the design however all I have ever read talks about the new and patented trigger works which makes me ask... is every take on revolver lockwork a new "invention" or just a new design.

Not trying to be grumpy but it seems the gun is really hyped and the invent vs. design thing seems to my mind to just be a symptom of this. I think it has merit and if executed well I might even buy one but it's not some new or earth shattering invention.

Situations like this and the mythical Vltor Fortis/Bren Ten are why I would never pre-order/pre-pay for a gun that has yet to be produced.

The Bren Ten analogy is apt, and it illustrates why I'll never invest in a new gun company's wares until they've got a few years under their belt. Anyone know where to find spare mags? Nooope.

When looking at a new company and its wares, I do question whether they'll be around five years from now if I have issues. Even if the Double Tap had made it to market, it's likely that wouldn't have been the case in the long term.

While the original Bren Ten is an apt analogy as well, I was actually referring to the "new" version from Vltor which has been "coming soon" for over four years now.
