Heavy Shot vs Lead buckshot

What on earth kind of birds do you hunt??

Geese would be the answer, and as I stated, no longer legal. But VERY effective when it was.

I shot a duck with one of those was like 1975 or so, was wings and a beak left :) he was 50 or 60 yards away too. Killed a few coyotes and many large coons. Them things work.

What state fish and game department ever allowed #4 Buckshot to be used on waterfowl?

You must live in an unusual place. Certainly not here in the USA.

What you are describing here would be absolutely impossible.

At that range, #4 buckshot would not have the necessary pattern density to do that kind of damage.

I use slugs when i bird hunt. . . but then again i also only hunt endangered california condors so that may be why

Small wood duck extra full turkey choke. Had a tight pattern at 60 yards. Some of the newer chokes are supposed to hold a patteren further than that.

Was some of the body there but you couldnt find enough to eat.

Maybe try it on a squirrel, should have about the same effect.

Taste like loons? (old joke)
