Heaven help me, I'm about to buy a Glock!

I checked the date of my last purchase last night. I could have bought it yesterday! :( Oh well, I'm taking the afternoon off so, it'll be mine soon enough :D

I just want to state publicly that I am NOT giving up my 1911s! :)

What does UGW stand for?

I just sold my two G19s, but it wasn't because they were no good. Glock 19s are great ccw pistols. Maybe the best thing since sliced Glock.

UGW stands for "Unofficial Glock Website". Go check it and Glocktalk out. Good websites and super people. Welcome to the brotherhood of Glock. I too, scoffed at the ugly black plastic pistols as I caressed the 1911, but I am now a believer. I shoot my Glock 27 about 400 times more than by gorgeous Wilson Combat .45. Reason? It is the ideal CCW, doesn't require pampering, works every time, and is extremely accurate. I trust my life and the life of my family with it. It is now a BEAUTIFUL black plastic pistol. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder you see...

See what a negative influence I've been on DMSC? Because of me, he can't leave a single weapon stock, he's buying S&W revolvers (pre-agreement) and Glocks, and he started shooting IDPA. I keep pointing out guns and accessories he had over-looked at gunshows and gunshops, and I always have my Brownells catalog handy whenever he asks about a part or accessory.

I'm surprised that his wife has not put a hit out on me yet. ;)

If you are thinking of buying a Glock,

DON'T DO IT.

I own three, and I can tell you from experience that your other handguns will feel neglected!

Once you own one, you will find that it becomes your mainstay, both at the range and CCW. They are absolutely addictive. My Dan Wesson screams for attention, and I pick up my G27 on a daily basis...

I strongly advise you to buy another 1911. then you won't be tempted to ignore you other beloved handguns.

The only two problems I have with glocks are:
1. They are ugly
2. Piss-poor calibers

Now, if Glock would saw off an inch or so of the barrel/slide and another inch or so of the grip, all the parts would be in correct preportion and the Glock would be a handsome fellow.
Also if Glock would chamber something less boring than 9mm and .45, something like 357 Sig.

Wait a minute...I just described my Glock33!

And I got rid of all of my Glocks and migrated over to 1911 style pistols. Glocks are great pistols and I hope you enjoy yours.

You guys forgot to mention that they MULTIPLY. You start out buying one next thing you know there's another one in the safe. THEN ANOTHER! Man, did you screw up!

Eric, you need a lisence in IN? That's one of the reasons I moved out of Illinois. Here in NM, we use the FBI background check as federally required and that's it. It usually takes me about 3 minutes to walk out with my new handgun. :-)

Buy (and shoot) what you like. After all, it IS your money.

Most new guns are good (but I like my custom 1911 best).

Preserve Freedom, you don't need a license to purchase in Indiana. What Eric meant was that in Indiana if you have a CCW, you short cut any other checks and/or waiting periods. You walk in, show your ccw permit, plunk down your money, and walk out with the gun. Pretty nifty, eh?

I feel your pain.
I went through the same thing two months ago.
I ended up with two Glocks.
One thing is right, the critters do grow on you.

Wise choice. if you're gonna buy just one Glock, the 19 is super.

Or the 23, the 30, the 33, the 21, the 22, the 35, the, oh...you get the idea.

I love my 19's, and my Baer doesn't mind a bit, except she is lonely in the safe while we're out shooting.

Seriously, I'll ALWAYS own a 1911 and a Glock, and many of each if i can.

Be careful. You may have started a habit. I bought my first Glock, a 17, last fall. Then in January, I bought the 19 and just last month a 26. All are new and I love all three.
The 19 and 26 are great for concealed carry, especially the 26 in our hot Texas summers.
Don't know why I waited so long!!!
Enjoy and stay safe.
