...“ They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” --Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759.

W]hereas, to preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them; nor does it follow from this, that all promiscuously must go into actual service on every occasion. The mind that aims at a select militia, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle; and when we see many men disposed to practice upon it, whenever they can prevail, no wonder true republicans are for carefully guarding against it.
---Richard Henry Lee, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788

Oh boy! I can hardly wait for the day my invite arrives in my mailbox! (Downside - I'm probably now counted as another "American in favor of reasonable gun control." Oh well.)

Oh boy! The last time I saw a pig eat was when I was overseas and I just can't wait for the invitation to be delivered via US Mail. I sure hope they include a plane ticket because I'm not going to spend any money to go to Los Angeles just to watch some porker chow down. Maybe I should have told them I was from the East Coast. That way airfare would cost more.

Did you see the small print at the bottom?

On the plus side...This is submitted by e-mail, so I looked at the page source code...voila!! We have our first HCI e-mail address! You'll note there is no e-mail address link any where on HCI's site...never has been.
this is the one I found, thus I'd imagine other permutations may work

Good job DC! On my way to request my mailings now. Wouldn't it be cool if one of us actually got to attend? Maybe there's even a Q & A session . . . .

Actually, that really would be pretty good. Probably being held in New York, though. A dedicated mother like Rosie wouldn't want to travel too far.

El Jefe:
Sir, I applaud you. For your efforts, and for knowing the difference between a call to action and a call to join a mob. I also nominate you, again, for another award. As the owner of the "Burr in Sarah's Saddle", I believe a "Fly in Rosie's Soup" award is in order. Do I have a second on the nomination?

An invitation should be arriving in my wife's name. Maybe I _should_ contribute some $$, on the condition that Rosie gets enough food to make her explode.

That legal warning on the bottom of the page was hilarious. Just an example, I guess, of how paranoid you can become when you're defenseless :D

Aye!

From HCI:
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>CCW: WHY OR WHY NOT?
The number of crime victims who successfully use firearms to defend themselves is quite
small. Out of 34,040 American firearms deaths in 1996, only 212 were justifiable homicides by
private citizens with firearms. (See 1996 Firearms Deaths)[/quote]

Do they mean you should be required to shoot to kill anytime you're threatened? Kind of a drastic shortening of the force continuum. I guess I'll go along but I'm not sure they'll like the results . . . . :D

Something we were contemplating when I was in California. We attended a bash for Dan Lungren, father of forfeiture, and we were thinking of taking a banner, some stiff wire, and several red, white, and blue helium balloons into the hall incognito. We were going to put the banner on the wire, attach the ends to the balloons, and let it go to the high ceiling out of reach of Lungren's goons. Oh, yeah, them. Did I mention the reason we scrapped the idea?

Think of how much fun this could be at a dinner where everyone had to sit a glare at a picture of Hitler and the "Those in favor of gun control, raise your hand" caption.

Gun Control: The proposition that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own panty hose, is more acceptable than allowing that same woman to defend herself with a firearm.

....Because if you are a slave, you don't have to be responsible.

See, for the left, freedom is not necessarily a good thing. It is licentiousness that they are enamoured with.

Real "freedom" involves responsibility and accountability: it is then dubbed "too much freedom". Although Man is God to them, somehow he can't be trusted with the most simple of responsibilities. It's one of the many glaring contradictions in their convoluted philosophy.

We are all God, yet we are all helpless children. We are all equal, yet while a politician is entitled to several armed bodyguards, my mother can't carry a tiny .22 in her purse. Our Constitution is a "living, breathing document" when it comes to the blatant 2nd Amendment, yet it is set in stone when it comes to the vague "separation of Church and State". And the list goes on.

To them, "freedom" is "the right to moral anarchy". Being able to walk topless around NY City is to them a more vital right than being able to defend yourself.

Moreover, "freedom" is too individual. It flies in the face of communitarianism. If we all started acting and behaving like individuals, "flush!" would go that cozy little societal paradigm they have embraced since the days of Carl Marx (a pox on him and his followers).

Instead, a slave does not have any responsibility, and therefore does not have to make any choices in a world where right and wrong do not exist. The master makes them for him.

So you see why people like Rosie and her likes "fight to be slaves". They actually fight to eliminate any responsibility from themselves and their fellow men. And that's why there is no arguing with their kind. You can defeat them, but you can seldom convert them.

 Oh my God, I am starting to sound like Alan Keyes!!!!

You can always set up an e-mail account for your "feminine side" through any of the Netscape, Yahoo, etc. services just for special events such as this. That way you don't get junk at your real place & you only have to access your "special account" when it suits you.

The name can even have it's own special meaning if they're not too dense to catch it.

If a TFLer wins, I say we send Dennis to represent our views. He and Rosie should get along swimmingly.

Email to HCI and request for snail mail packet will be done soon.
