Have you switched your concealed carry gun? Why?

Where I live you don't have to worry much about hidin' what you carry, damn near the whole town is armed anyways. Its true in the bigger cities ya gotta be more careful, but it never stops me from packin' as much heat as I think I'll need. On your average day when walking the streets of Portland OR, I have my Springfield XDM .40 2 extra clips,(42 rounds right there) and I also carry a S&W 640-3 .357 magnum with 2 speed strips as my back-up peice. Some folks might call it over kill, but I carried twice as much ordnance every second of everyday in Iraq, so factor that in before you pass judgement please; thank you.

Moved up

My first piece was a cheapo .380. Bersa type no-name, but reliable.
After watching a moose stomp my bicycle into the ground while I hid behind a clump of trees, I decided that a larger caliber would have been in order had his frustrations extended to me.
The Firestar M-40 has still not been supplanted. Perfect grip and angle for me. Bad things come on more than two legs sometimes, pack accordingly.

Benched a Bersa Thunder 45 UC for M&P45

I finaly benched my Bersa thunder 45 uc for an M&P45 full sized.
The bersa has performed flawlessly. Has never failed to go bang, never misfed, or jammed. It was just heavy. It is quite concealable, in fact I have it in a cross breed super tuck. I bought it years ago on the recomendation of a friend of mine at the gunstore, and he cut me a good deal.
I had an M&P stolen from me quite a while back. I was going to use it as a carry gun, but had not broken it in. I recently bought another one to replace it. It has performed flawlessly. Only one feeding problem that has been solved. Seems it does not like a mixed mag diet. Miss fed a JHP mixed in with ball rounds. Fed a few mags of hp only and it ate them fine. It weighs less with 11 rounds loaded than the bersa does empty. It is just a bit larger. No problems concealing it on my slim framed body in the heat with an untucked shirt.
Albeit I am looking to when I can afford to buy a snubbie. For pocket carry. Also as a BUG but it will not be replacing the M&P anytime soon

I change one of my carry guns from a 21oz revolver to a 13oz revolver just to make carry a bit easier. Had the old one for 26 years and will now just keep it at home. Still waiting for one of the new extra light 380's to replace a tomcat for the same reason, half the wieght.

yes I change them out all the time.I've got 10+ guns that get carried depending on circumstances. Why? because I want to.

I have had so many carry guns I have lost count at this point. I currently have 6 different guns in my carry rotation. My favorite is a commander size 1911, but Texas summers can be brutal and I am very hot natured and sweat a lot which can make my pants hard to keep up with a heavy gun like a 1911. I actually wear larger shirts in the summer than in the winter so in the summer I tend to carry OWB more than winter and recently I have found myself carrying my Sigma more often than not when I leave the house. I have also been carrying the Kel tec p11 around the house more. My carry choice, in both gun and carry method, has always depended on where I was going, what I was doing and how I am dressed at the time.

I did a lot of research before I bought my pistol for CC (probably almost a year). I started with a large list and gradually thinned it out. For me, concealment is crucial and I wanted something somewhat comfortable, as I know I won't carry consistently if I don't.

I ended up with a Kahr PM9. I'm still waiting on my permit, but I've been "breaking in" my holsters carrying around the house and property. I have a FIST IWB/Tuckable and a FIST pocket holster. I'm thinking of adding a Galco Ankle Glove to the mix as well, as I sit all day at my occupation, and drawing might be easier than with either of the other two options.

Despite not even completely licensed yet, I'm already planning my second CCW! :D I must admit, after rolling my eyes at all the 1911 affecionados for sometime, I think I've got the 1911 bug. A Colt Defender is screaming my name for cooler weather, but we'll have to wait a little while on that. Knowing my track record, I'll change my mind ten times before then! :D

carry gun

I tried a lot of different handguns , most were difficult to effectively conceal ,while being comfortable to carry . Bought the LCP , easy to hide , but not the most comforting weapon at more than a few yards. Finally I realized that my problem was more in my choice of holsters than the gun I was carrying.
My Glock 26 with a CT laser in the Galco IWB holster is the perfect combo. I can wear it all day with ease , and it easily conceals under an untucked hawaiian shirt.

"I find it funny how people argue that handgun is absolutely necessary even though the odds of needing it are incredibly unlikely, but a higher capacity handgun is foolish and unnecessary because the odds of needing them are incredibly unlikely.

People pick the gun first, then come up with reasons for choosing it. Do be careful. "

Love that as well. I'm of the opinion that no one's carry is "superior". Until they develop a key chain sized, recoil-less, .50 cal with a 20 round magazine for $50 :D, everyone's choice of weapon/carry method/ammo has a flaw in it. Let us not forget that self defense isn't something you get an "A" on. It's pass/fail.

Over the course of about 10 years, here's how it went:

Bersa Series 95
NAA Guardian 32
Sig 229
Full-size 1911
Kel-Tec P11
Kel-Tec P32
Taurus PT745
Taurus M85SSUL

The best two for me were the P32 and then the M85. The rest were never satisfactory.

Bersa (not a true pocket gun)
NAA Guardian 32 (unholy recoil, goofy looks)
Sig 229 (too big)
1911 (too big)
P11 (not a true pocket gun)
PT745 (not a true pocket gun)

After packing the P32 for a number of years, I finally discovered that the snubnose .38 was approximately as concealable as the tiny automatic. So, that's it. I guess.

Except for a short period when I first started ccw I have carried my G23. I sometimes switch to the G27 but the 23 is the primary edc.

I've changed carry guns more often than I can count. Anyways, here's what I can remember carrying:

Beretta 96, .40 S&W
Beretta PX4, 9mm
FM Hi-Power Detective, 9mm
Glock 19, 9mm
Glock 27, .40 S&W
Kel-Tec PF-9, 9mm
Makarov PM, 9mm Mak
Sig P220, .45 ACP
Sig P228, 9mm
Sig P229, .40 S&W
S&W 25, .45 ACP
S&W 29, .44 Magnum
S&W 57, Mountain Gun .41 Magnum
S&W 442, .38 Special
S&W 638, .38 Special
S&W 686+, .357 Magnum
S&W 4506, .45 ACP
Springfield Armory 1911 Mil-Spec, .45 ACP
Taurus 650, .357 Magnum

I've also had a couple guns intended as carry guns that never ended up getting carried.

Why change my carry gun so much? I guess I'm just never sastified. I'm always looking for the next "perfect" gun. Strangely, I'm about to pick up a Sig P220, which will bring me full circle to my very first carry gun ten years ago.

Hey, I got one of those! But it's too small, I can never find it in my pocket.:D

no one here has mentioned the glock 23,.40 cal with 13 in the mag,not to small and not to large, mine always gos bang when trigger has been pulled. a comprimise between big and small with plenty of juice and when i want to go light i switch to my bersa 380 also very reliable.i have owned many handguns in my life of 55 yrs but have come down to these 2 in the last 3 yrs or so.i also enjoy my stoeger 8000 in 9mm but just a hair large for daily carry butt feels real good in my hand though., none of these pistols break the bank but are extremely realiable,at least mine are.in my truck i go alittle large, a kel-tec PLR-16 with 2 20 rounders in 223,outdoes any handgun going with a 9.5 in barrell. cops hate me when they see it but cant say a whole lot with a ccw permit, and did i mention reliable on the kel-tec,has a dr. optics on top, highly accurate to 100 yds and more if need be.about covers everything i need in a good carry group.

ATW525

The Sig 220 is a great .45, the ability to ease the hammer back a little, and have a little less trigger movement is a winner.

Saw a friend in Phoenix prove to me that you can have two quick and accurate shots from the draw! Draw and fire, two shots, 2 or 3 inches apart hits at 7 yds, time and time again! First double action, second single, it answered my question, that was for sure.

Switched my CC gun, yes I have. Then again, no I havent because I have different guns that I carry regularly depending on what I deem appropriate for different circumstances. The one thing I do, is make sure I am very familiar with what gun I carry. I have kind of a personal relationship with any gun that I carry.

A while back i switched from My Glock 21C to My Colt Commander. I retired my 21 to a house gun, I have way to many house guns lol.

Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Mag 9.5 Bbl; 4x Scope

The daily carry is a stainless Ruger Super Redhawk .44 magnum with 9.5 inch barrel and a Burris 4x scope in a CCW holster inside the jacket. One MONSTER hand(?)gun!! Actually do have an "inside the jacket" CCW holster. And whenever it comes out, everyone around just says "jesus!" But just kidding.

Everyday carry is a S&W M&P 340 revolver in a pocket holster. I like it because it's "light" and always, always have it with me. Also carry two spare speedloaders just in case. The disadvantage is only 5 rounds, and what seems to be a trend of more than 1 perpetrator.

To compensate, the ammo is RBCD .357 mag which is advertised to destroy a very large area of tissue, and "should" incapacitate any attacker with a hit to any part of the body. Plus practice at least twice a month, and am confident of hitting what I need to especially at the close range where it would be needed in case of attack. I don't even practice at long range (with that revolver), usually not more than 7 yards. And always load from the speedloaders during practice sessions. Not as fast as an automatic magazine reload, but reasonably quick with the practice. Hope I never need more than 5 rounds, though.

When traveling, usually a G27 .40 cal with a 10 round magazine and two spare 15 round magazines in the pocket. Like having that 40 round availability!
