I bought a 5 digit Remington Arms M1 at a garage sale last weekend...Looks in excellent condition for its age ( pre WW2 )...Now if I can only find some reasonably priced bulk surplus ammo...Looking forward to shooting a qualification course again after 50 plus years...
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I recall we fired 10 rounds timed offhand and 5 rounds each, sitting and kneeling from the 200...10 rounds each rapid sitting and prone from the 300...and 10 rounds slow fire prone from 500 yds, for a total 250 possible...My best back then was 241...Larry

What often happens is that when I go to pick up a gun that I placed on lay-a-way, there will be another gun that's either too good of a deal or too desirable to pass up.
So then more gun get put on lay-a-way.
That's right, this most recent lay-a-way involves a pair of pistols.
They had just come in and considering their price and condition, there wasn't any doubt that they were going to disappear quickly. So I jumped on them! :)

The local Cabela's store will place a gun on hold for 5 days without any payment at all. Then by the end of the 5th day the buyer needs to make a 25% down payment to place the gun on lay-a-way for up to 60 days.
After the down payment is made, if the buyer wants to cancel the purchase then they will get charged $25 when the money is refunded.

I had a good week a week or so ago. Picked up:

Smith & Wesson 29-2, 4" barrel, 44 Magnum

Smith & Wesson 25-2, 6" barrel, 45 ACP, with box and papers.

Smith & Wesson 27-2, 3 1/2" barrel, .357 Magnum.

All were in VERY good condition. Just couldn't pass them up.

Well yes I did.

Put a deposit down on a couple of LH Zastava Mausers that an importer ordered on a group buy. One is a M-85 Mini-Mauser in .223 Rem. and the other is a M-70 (98) Mauser in .25-06.

The .25-06 is going to be my reach-across-the-valley wolf whacker.

I have a 6.5x57 Mauser planned for a future purchase.

Yes, I've been a regular at the gun stores recently, and added these....

Colt AR15
S&W 340PD
S&W 686
Colt LW Commander NIB
Colt Collector's Banker's Set NIB

Also replaced my aging Emerson EDC knife (the old chisel grind design), and purchased ammo.

Last week, I found an Armi-Sport 3 band 1861 Springfield rifled musket on consignment @ $495, which isn't bad at all, even though Armi-Sport is the bottom of the barrel for an 1861. I went in yesterday and made an offer of $400, they called the guy, and he accepted it, so I brought it home. It appears to be in "as new" condition, and at $400, it was a pretty sweet deal, even for an Armi-Sport. Midway lists it for $804.99, and Dixie Gun Works has it for $895.
:)
