Have you heard of the new "Palm pistol"?

To answer your question

So just what IS the point? It's a gun, so it's automatically a great idea? I think not. As far as I'm concerned, it's a joke.
I find it odd that people are so completely dismissive of this gun.Perhaps you would be willing to take that single shot to the sternum?
In answer to your question.

I would not be willing to "take" a 9mm to the sternum. But, under the right circumstances, I would stand up to someone carrying the palm pistol if I have my Officer's Model .45 ACP or even my SP101 .357 mag. The 45 is a tack driver (surprise) and the SP is plenty good enough.

Lost Sheep.

If it helps one grandma stop a sick robber or rapist ,I will be extremely happy they made it.

I would hope that same grandma was armed with a 442 Smith where she had four more rounds to 'discuss the legalities of his current endeavors with him.'

Personally, if something like this would convince my 84 year-old mother to at least consider owning and carrying a defensive weapon, I'd buy it for her and MedicAid be damned.

I'd rather she have even a single-shot 9x19 that she could deploy and manipulate with her rheumatoid arthritis-crippled hands at 'contact' range in "The Gravest Extreme" than nothing but a Medic Alert button and prayer.

This is the "point" that I believe Te Anau was trying to make and, frankly, I think that most of you are missing it entirely.

You all who like it, make sure to go to the web sight and send them the money.

So I have to buy everything that I think is a good idea?

I think the flowbee is one of the most ingenuous inventions of our time but I don't own one.

Your not buying it just putting a down payment so it can be developed in the next year or two or three or four....Only $25.!!!!!
I thought of sending a check however I decided on a case of Heineken instead.
Go ahead plant the seed!!!!

looks to me like a handgrenade with a scope attached. I'd pass on it, put something together myself with one of those build your own gun books.

This is always a stupid argument. Just because the bullet would hurt doesn't make the gun, caliber, bullet type, etc. a good design.
The argument is only stupid if you assume that 100% of the time the first round being fired at you out of any gun is always an FJB or full jello bullet for those not familiar with FJB.This gun has apparently been designed specifically for those who simply can't use a S&W 4506 or AK-47 with a 75 round drum. Its what it is,nothing more, nothing less.
Hay guys the gun was never made or marketed.
The site clearly states that the gun isn't yet in production.

"Sales will be direct to consumers by Constitution Arms, a licensed FFL and NJ Retail Firearms Dealer,
through the company’s own website at www.palmpistol.com, various online auction websites and other
avenues. Elimination of the dealer and wholesale network will retain profits in the company and permit
price competitiveness. An attempt will be made to produce the product entirely with US made
components. The ATF has classified the design as a standard “pistol” and is thus not subject to NFA
regulations. This will permit the gun to be sold like any other traditional handgun without the additional tax
and registration requirements of designs that otherwise would have been classified as “AOW” (Any Other Weapon"
