In my part of Central Pennsyltucky, I'm lucky to have many gun stores, some small, some large and one very large. Prices are generally very good across them all. All have other items (even the very large) for sale, such as hunting clothes, gun safes, etc. Prices run very close to "Gun Broker", if you are careful to compare apples to apples for both sources: shipping, FFL transfer fees, sales tax, etc.
Funny thing is, here in PA we've always had excellent pricing at the independently owned stores. Dunhams, which isn't, does have pricing in line, locally, with the LGS's, but their selection is very poor, and the sales clerks knowledge is generally even worse. Walmarts around here do not sell firearms, but have ammo and licenses. There is a Field & Stream about 75 miles away (owned by Dick's Sporting Goods), and their prices are higher, but the selection is not anywhere as good as some of the non-chains.
As I said, we've got it pretty good around here!
