Has the revolution begun? I'd read this if I were you...

What happens after the 'revolution?' Do you guys really believe that there are enough people in the US and Canada who understand what individual rights are to ensure that a violent rebellion would not result in even more repressive government? I doubt it. If there were, then we would still have a governmnet, in the US anyway, that does respect the rights of the individual. Like it or not, under the american system, the government does give the majority what they say they want. The system IS working. If you want a free society, then you have to win the propaganda war; you have to reason with people and convince them of the rationality of you argument. Blind rebellion only begets stricter controls. Recent history proves this.

The USSR could not defeat the US government. China can't do it. Who in their right mind thinks that a handful of 'patriots' can? Any government so weak is useless as an agent for national defense.

Statism is an IDEA. You can only kill an idea with another idea. If you try to kill it with a gun, you just make it stronger.

To those who believe that small, violent groups can't compeate against a major military power, there's the IRA vs Israel and PLO vs Britain. Each are now negotiating peace on much better terms than before they took action.

I'm not completely sure what point we are at now, and I would definately prefer a peaceful solution. I will not, however, rule out violence as a possibility. To do so would allow the opposition the luxury to know that they can push as hard as they want with no personal risk.

Jordan's post there seems to boil down to Vermont's state motto: "Live free or die". Maybe even the Braveheart quote, "They can take our lives, but they will never take our freedom!"

I believe that is New Hampshire's state motto. I think Vermont's is something about Green Mountain Boys.

Either way, with the present situation, the New Hampshire model would prevail, not the Braveheart.

The US did not reach the point where liberty is in danger via a violent rebellion. We reached this point via the legal/political process. The process can be reversed. It must be reversed, or destruction is all that will be achieved.

Israel would have been overwhelmed by the USSR 30 years ago if it were not for the protection provided by the US. The IRA are terrorists who prey on civilians and only occasionally fight with British troops when they are finally backed into a corner. Sorry, I don't want to be like them.

Take a serious look at what it takes to win an election, and what it takes to win a revolution.

1. Numbers

2. Strategy and tactics

3. Resources

4. Leadership

5. Communications

6. Guns.

You need 1 through 5 for an election, add #6 to win a revolution. And getting the guns is the EASIEST part of a revolution!

Bottom line? Every two years we hold a war game, and hand the government over to the side which proves it would win if we had a civil war. We save a lot of casualties that way...

Don't even THINK about war until we win the elections, and get them stolen from us. THEN it will be justified, and THEN we might stand a chance.

Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My !

If some of those "Fedagents" are reading any of this paranoid ranting I suspect they will be laughing their pants off and wondering what the country is coming to. By the way don't forget the black helicopters and the United Nations troop carriers waiting just off the coast in readiness for the invasion, I've read threads here that deal with the U.N. conspiracy to invade the U.S., it sounds more like a problem with medication than infiltration.

Dear Mr Moderator sir, please can we have a new forum called "Sane and Sensible" for us minority of the minority gun owners who still aren't seeing VC snipers in the trees at the local Mini Mall. I blame it all on too much TV and candy before bedtime.

I carefully read the text which started this thread with great interest and admiration. As you all have done, I too have read each and every response.

I guess what puzzles me most, is how imaginations have run wild, whipping up scenes from Gettysburg or the Alamo to attempt an illustration of what we may soon face. I sincerely believe that when the term "revolution" is used in the context of regaining our freedom from a government gone bad, most people today incorporate an illogical image of what may be involved.

Firstly, it is utterly essential to keep a very positive attitude (we'll need it). Claiming defeat without a fight is simply cowardice. Secondly, we must avoid fighting amongst ourselves and stand together as Americans. We must look beyond the apathetic needs of the common man (the average American), and look to the betterment of our country through our collective efforts as patriots. Our fellow countrymen will stand in awe of our efforts, but only if "we" stand together, and show direction (and benefit) to our cause.

Thirdly, we face a distinct advantage over our enemies and they KNOW IT! It comes down to a numbers game...we out number them 50-100 to one (at least). Remember, 80 million gun owners, 14 million hunters, and the rest of us together. And it doesn't even require 1/100000th of that aggregate to win. That's right, we can win with about 800 brave patriots. But it is much more likely, that upon building momentum, that more and more will join our efforts, growing our numbers exponentially...creating a win fall. And our enemies know that too!

We must also understand just who the enemy is. If you are familiar with organizational charts you will deduce that equation in short order. Anyone (sorry, everyone) supporting or defending a tyrant becomes our instant enemy. But it is more likely that as soon as the ball gets rolling, the cowardice usurpers and their thugs will head for the hills. Only fools (easy targets) will remain vigilant to the leftists' cause.

But we must also remember that not all of our enemies are so obvious, or so public. And that they too must be tracked down and equally "handled".

We are not underdogs about to take the field against the best team in the league. We are by far the biggest, baddest contender in the world...all 80 million of us. But we won't even need our second string, unless that is...the cowards send in the UN Global Army. In that case we may need some duck and deer hunters to join in.

ellsworthtoohey,

Sir, it wasn't that the other countries couldn't defeat the US government. The other countries could not defeat the US. There's a difference, indeed.

We the people arguably ARE the government. We can argue a lot.

UN Global Forces? ? :D
The UN has a hard time deciding to condemn the actions of cannibals, much less invading the country that has born much of the cost for the existence of the UN, and which is coincidentally one of the best-armed and (potentially) violently free societies ever to exist.

I look around at my fellow employees, and sometimes wonder that my company makes money. (And make money it does!) I look around the religious organizations I was raised in, and shake my head at the hypocrisy and the scandal. I look at the sports world, and know for every star there are thousands that could compete, if they had the drive. I look around at my society. We are sheep. A few excel, a few shine; the rest follow.
If our weapons are words, I do not see how we can win the war with a dishonest foe, for they can invent new weapons instantaneously. The truth will surely ring clearly, but only for the few that will hear it. But it only takes a few. A few can seize power, but many hold it. Something to consider it.

I am still content to talk, vote, and try to uphold my personal vision of what a citizen of this Republic should be. It is true that I am dismayed by the trends I see throughout the 20th century. The growth of government power at all levels-not just federal. The herd mentality of many, if not most, of my fellow Americans exemplified by the instant willingness to trade essential liberties for temporary safety and security. The willingness of both individuals, political parties of all stripes, and the various interest and pressure groups to "win" even at the cost of ravaging the Constitution perhaps eventually beyond repair.
In most situations regarding violation of my rights by the authorities, I am still perfectly willing to let lawyers sort it out-come what may.

I draw the line at the current violations of the Fourth Amendment sanctioned by all three branches of our government. While I would instantly obey a knock and a search warrant-I will fight if my door is broken down. Wrong address? Sorry, sir, you've got business here now. The same if my property is stolen under civil standards of proof rather than criminal standards of proof. I don't claim I would win or even survive for I have no claim to either invincibility or invulnerability but I will fight.

Spartacus,

Are there still three branches to our government? :(
