Has it been reduced to "Shooter" status?

The pistol I carry most is a Ruger SS 22/45 that had been gnawed on by the previous owner's dog. The lower 1" of the grip frame has tooth marks all around but it doesn't affect the operation, accuracy, or dependability at all. If you don't appreciate a firearm for doing what it was made to do because it doesn't look like new, that just leaves more of the using guns for the rest of us.
 
I passed up a savage 99 on gunbroker that had some dumb picture hand carved into the stock. Some howling wolf or something. Hundreds less than the other guns and I could have bought a new stock for it. My biggest mistake, but no one else paid the normal shooter value either.
