Harris Bipods for Hunting: Why?

To me they're usefull calling coyotes, particularly in the winter when snow has knocked most of the vegetation down. Obviously you have to put some extra thought into your position selection.. one of my favorite spots has a log that I shoot off the side of, the log conceals my mat and most of my body, while I shoot basically "around" the end of it.

I also live in fairly hilly country, so there is a decent chance of looking down a slope or across to another one, it doesn't take much to move some vegetation and clear your lane of fire.

Nice. I could definitely see the 27" one being very useful from a sitting position, espec. looking down a slight hill.

Well thats the thing, finding out which one works the best for which location or terrain. I use the short one quite a bit as well when hunting some of the flatter areas where I can find just a touch of a rise or a small incline, or when sitting atop a hill overlooking a pasture down below.

No matter which one your decide on or if you even go with one, you need to practice with it and become familiar with the little things what will change your POI like the forward pressure (loading the legs), what different type of ground does to them when you fire, such and so forth. They are wonderful IF you work with them but can really disappoint you if you just go out thinking they are as good or solid as a set of bags, as they aren't. They are only as good as you make them.

The Harris 25-C (27 inch) is the only one that works well for coyote hunting. This one is just halfway extended. Get one of those stadium chairs to sit on.
