Harrington & Richardson 949 "Forty Niner"

I have two from the same company that are in 32 H&R.

I seem to remember a small bait & tackle shop near us when I was 8 or so, that had a "longer" barreled one in .32 I used to drool over that thing every time we stopped there for crappie minners.

Very nice OP. I'm currently keeping an eye on an 8" H&R .22 top break.

I bought one in 1976 for use on the trapline and it functions just fine. Many a raccoon and fox met their doom from it. Makes a nice gun for woods carry when small game is the target.

I have an H&R Model 04 .32S&W that looks almost brand new but is probably around 100 years old. It is my desk gun, another defensive tool that I hope I will never have to use but it is there just in case. Nickle plated except for the hammer and the trigger and trigger guard. I paid less than $100.00 for it six or seven years ago. Also have a nickled H&R .38 S&W top break with the enclosed hammer(DAO). Paid less than $100.00 for it also. IMO H&R made a good inexpensive guns that although would no way last as long as a Colt or S&W round for round they would last the lifetime of their owners who rarely shot them but when they needed a defensive weapon they were completely serviceable as one. Having any serviceable gun to defend yourself is far better than no gun at all.
