Happened to me, whadda you think?

You must have ESP Dave. I was at Kiessee Creek on the upper end of the French Broad, 1-2 mountain ranges east from the Chattooga where 'Deliverance' was filmed. Newarchers encounter was maybe 2-3 ranges west of there and Helen, Ga is a little more civilized than the area where I was. The main thug in my encounter would have been a fitting character for 'Deliverance', believe me. I'm just thankful (and lucky) they had to park the pick-up about 50 yards from me and that I had my Ruger w/me. I ain't a little feller and don't drink much alky, I figure the BG's seen I might have been a little to much trouible to deal with. I was back from Viet duty by about a year. Like I say I carry a Mak w/me now in addition to my Ruger. Call me bloodthirsty if you will but I sort of wish that would happen agian knowing what I know now.

I always assume people are up to no good...

As a great mentor once told me:

"A theory isn't good because it's true. A theory is good because it's useful."

Is it true that every human being is set to rape, pillage, and plunder? No.

Is it useful to believe that? Absolutely.

BTW, I didn't see an answer - is there a revolver manufactured in a "marine" finish that's made to withstand some of mother Gaia's beauty?

You handled it as well as you could in that situation. The problem is that you can't be on guard 24/7 365, there's times when you think you're alone and can just tune the world out (fishing). But, you know, I'd rather take a chance while fishing or taking photographs or shooting, and be able to just enjoy the moment.
But you did a good job handling it, putting yourself in front of your son and reaching your hand into the tackle box.

Glad you're okay.
