Here is my list:

1. Ruger Super Blackhawk (.44 Magnum but I got back a .41 Magnum).

2. SW 41

3. Colt 1911 .45 ACP

4. SW 27

5. Colt New Frontier .22LR/.22WMR

6. Colt SAA

7. CZ 52

8. P-08

The only handgun I got the first time and kept is a 1966 Colt Cobra!

I never should have gotten rid of the S&W 669. Someday I hope to get another.
It wasn't until I had shot a bunch of other semi's that I realized how much I liked that one!

15 years ago I had a beautiful stainless Colt 1911 .45 with about $2500 in mods set up for Steel Challenge. Slide work, comp, checkered, the whole nine yards. It fit my hand like a glove, was a natural point-and-shooter, and would shoot the balls off a gnat at 50 yards. Finally traded it in for a couple of guns I would actually use more - a nice shotgun and 30-06. I've missed it many times; I hate to think what it'd cost to reproduce it, but basically it'd just sit in the nightstand drawer.

I've never gotten back any gun I've sold/traded off. Although there are 2-3 that I regret getting rid of and would love an opportunity to get back.

Ditto. No regrets yet about anything that's gone. Much of it I am well rid of. Others were trade fodder for better guns.

Currently I don't have any handgun that I owned before 2000.

A ton of HD 12 gauge pump action shotguns. I gave one to my Pop as a fathers day present, I traded one on a Ruger GP100, I sold one to buy a 1911, etc. It's the only current hole I have in my collection as far as "must haves". I just don't shoot em, and I think a pistol works just fine for HD.

Several years ago I gave my son my Beretta 92FC that I was issued on the job, new, in 1988 and which I bought upon retirement. Soon I realized that I wished I hadn't parted with it. So, traded him another Beretta that I'd bought and brought the old one home. Shoots as well today as it did 22 years ago when I got it. It, the original case and sleeve and all docs rest comfortably in my safe.

I was using a Randall stainless steel for informal competitions like timed and bowling pin events (lot of fun with the .45). I had had to have ramp and throat work done as well as trigger work along with high quality magazines as the stockers weren't as reliable as a good aftermarket.

I sold it to a friend who ended up wanting a concealable gun, he sold it back to me for the cost of a new Firestar .40 cal. :D. It was a nice shooting .45. He paid me $500 for it which was a very fair price at the time and he needed $300 or less for the Firestar.

Interesting thread, thanks.

In 1978 I traded away a 1927 Argentine (Sistema Colt) and almost immediately regretted it. About 18 months later, I found the same pistol (not only was it unique but, yes, I remembered the serial #) in a local pawn shop. I plan to pass it down to my heirs.

Others I have 'replaced' after regretting getting rid of:

Ruger SP101 .357
Ruger Mark series (replaced a II with a I)
Ruger Security Six .357
S&W Model 317
NAA mini .22lr
Star PD

And, most important, (with the possible exception of the Sistema):

Colt 1970's-built Lightweight Commander

I have been around firearms since I was 7, shooting single shot .22 bolt actions working my way up. So far I have only had to part with 1 firearm and unfortunately it was My First (2-tone fnp9), due to a home break in. I currently only own 2 other pistols now, and my first still so far was my best...and had that sentimental value too. I plan to make careful and informed purchases in the future and hopefully nothing too unexpected will turn up in my life to where I need to sell any off. That is my plan to not run into this problem. I will probably end up buying another 2-tone fnp9 and pray it shoots just like the one I originally owned, otherwise it will just be a disappointment.

Only one came back to me, and the rest I've sold or traded don't really matter. I traded off a S&W Model 19-4 never fired. It took me over a year to get all my ducks in a row to trade another pistol and accessories to get that one back. It's in my safe and will be for many, many years. I've shot it since I got it back, and I'll continue to do so. It's my #1 favorite handgun in my possession.

I can't count the number of handguns I've sold over the past 40 years. Some that stand out as wish I hadn't are a Delta Elite I sold because I heard about frames cracking. Bought a Glock 20 instead. Just recently replaced the Delta with a Delta Gold Cup (blue) circa 1991 and it is great.

A number of 45s including a Clark Longslide made by the old man in Keithville. A Giles 45, as well as a Giles 38 and 22. An Interarms Mauser 9mm Luger, early post war Belgian High Power. I could go on and on. I've kept some nice ones too though and may replace some of the above if I live long enough. :)

Beretta 92FS
CZ 75B
Colt AA2000
Glock 21
Glock 19
Ruger GP100
Ruger Blackhawk
S&W 19
Sig P226
Sig P6

Funny thing, they all cost more the 2nd time around.
So. if you wanna save money...don't ever sell...

I Never sell any of my guns but when I was 18 my dad let me use his OM Blackhawk I returned it after I purchased my own pistols... I've looked at MANY MANY NM Blackhawks but none of them seem to measure up to that old girl. I miss it much.

I had a Ruger Single Six that was sold and I've always regretted it. Have often thought about replacing it but there always seems to be a better gun out there that fills my needs better. Although I'd like too, I doubt I'll ever replace that Single Six.
