handguns for one hand shooting

I'm most comfortable shooting one-handed with my S&W J-frame revolver.

I agree with the LEO. Practice one-handed too.

Everything from 22 pistol and revolver to my Walker black powder revolvers to my Ruger Super Blackhawk are shot one hand. I have to make myself train with both hands because it isn't natural for me. right or left makes little difference, I don't need two hands much till I get to long barreled guns with shoulder stocks. Comes from a miserable childhood growing up with Tom Mix, Tex Ritter, Hop-a-Long Cassidy and Red Rider. :D

Not to mention I was in love with Gail Davis who played Annie Oakley. If one hand was good enough for her it was good enough for me.

I actually find the big boomers and heavy kickers more comfortable to shoot one handed than two. The less you fight the recoil, the less it hurts you.

I expect to be able to shoot, and I do shoot, every handgun I have with one hand. And I expect to be able to shoot, and do shoot, every handgun I have with either my dominant hand or my non-dominant hand.

It
s important to learn to shoot your handgun in all ,ammers of discharge. shooting for "style" is always nice but more important is to "Hit" with as near to every shot!
I try my guns different ways but most of all I strive for control and accuracy. If this means I need a two handed hold, so be it.
Different shooting styles sometimes demand a one hand hold (Quick-draw comes to mind) and mastering such a hold is the requirement.
I try to be versitile with my handguns so I shoot both one and two handed.

There is a resurrection of small handguns out now, I believe mostly in .380 ACP, which you can't get one hand completly on. Therefore, there is definately no room for the second hand. I believe they are frequently referred to as pocket pistols.

I suspect they have better firepower than most of the derringers of old.

I shoot my Ruger LCP and CZ-75bd one handed for defense training. (strong and weak hand) Like many others here, I feel that most scenarios aren't going to allow you to get a perfect 2 handed grip/stance in order to take your shot(s). Anyone carrying a gun should practice this way imo.

How about the Lignose Einhand 2A? This was a little 25 auto that you could operate with one hand. Apparently, the trigger guard somehow operated the slide so it could be moved with the middle finger. Google that one. It is pretty cool IMO.
