Hand Engraved Winchester Model 1200

FITASC do you know who did that work?

It looks very much like Pedretti, I have the book about him, but a Bertuzzi is not included in his shown work.

Outstanding engraving.

Ah Sadly I must pass on it for two reasons, first the chances are the cast is for a right hander, I shoot left hand.

Second the most important---- my pockets are not that deep, if they were that gun would be in my gun room.

QUOTE: "Now we know why you do not see many engraved aluminum receivers."

It may be more difficult to engrave aluminum and be aesthetically pleasing but it can be done. A case in point would be the standard factory engraving done to all Browning Double-Auto shotguns, most of which had alloy receivers.

Might be easier then to use a machine on the aluminum.

Compare the scroll on the Winchester to this scroll (which is hand done):

One looks like a work of art from a Master Artisan, the other looks like it was done by a kid in Kindergarten.

Aluminum is easy to engrave, BUT if you get too fine a detail too deep, it is not at all durable. I agree the work on this gun does not look professional, but perhaps they suited it to the gun.
