Had to pass on a 1991a1 today

Local pawn shop had a 1991a1 today. Sticker said 950. If I had cash, he'd do 750. To me it was only worth 600-650 tops. So it's still there.

Did I screw up?

Didn't need this one, but I'm always open to a good deal.

Pawn shop needs to pay 10k in property taxes, so they are in a selling mood.

I never like the Colt 1991A1 , the quality wasnt like it use to be, that was one of the lower end Colts

you made a wise decision to pass on this one

I went for one with nice wood stocks, 2 holsters and 2 extra mags for $700, so you had your mind right. It's important that it didn't have much wear or customization. Stay away from those.

I wouldn't have paid that much either. They are a good gun though. I picked up one several years back that someone stated customizing and didn't quite finish. Got it at a good price and it shoots great. I gave it to my daughter after she married and moved out.

That's way to much. My local LGS sold me a stainless 1991A1 for $600.00 total out the door.
It's one of my best shooting 1911's

That was the whole point of the M1991A1, when it was introduced. Imported pistols like Springfields, and cast guns like Auto-Ordnance were starting to take too much of the market.
I think the '91 was one of Colt's better marketing ideas, working the historical angle of a gun similar to those used by the military, while being able to market it for less than typically charged for a Colt.
That said, $950 is too much!

had a commander 1991, someone had done some work on it, shot great. very basic finish, made a fine carry gun (now carry PX4 in 40 cal). for the same amount of money, i could get over 2000 rounds of 9mm and 40 cal. empty gun is only useful for throwing at Superman. :)

Depends on when is was made. The newer 1991A1s are very high-quality pistols - as good or better and any mass-produced 1911s.

That said - $950 is too much for a used one.

Walk in, lay $600 cash on the counter, and ask for the Colt. Then we'll see if they're really in a selling mood....

Nothing wrong with 1991A1s. Bought one slightly used in the 90s that would feed empty cases right out of the box. That was a first for me; Usually they require a lot of work to do that.

The Colt M1991A1 series are fine pistols just never took off due to the large rollmark.
$600 would be a great deal on your end if you could pull it off.
