Gym carry

I carry to be prepared. I'm not afraid of getting in a car accident, but take the precaution of wearing a seatbelt.
Gun crime may be low in the UK, violent crime doesn't always require a gun. In the US statistics have shown the rate of violent crime to drop when the laws are changed to allow more law abiding citizens to carry. That's the only explaining I'm going to do to a European that has been stripped of his basic right to self defense.

Options:

LCP in any pocket, IWB holster, or ankle holster while at the gym or running. Cleaning after use eliminates issues from sweat.

NAA Pug .22 mag in a very small waterproof camera case strapped to the wrist while swimming, or on the dry-side of a plastic lined drink cup anywhere.

With CC, once you get past the legalities, the rest is attitude and imagination. Be armed everywhere it's legal to do so.

if your so afraid you need to carry at a gym or when swimming i say stay home. buy a home gym, build a swimming pool. oh wait that won't work either. some people are so afraid they need to carry while they shower. it must be a bitch being so rich and famous.....or so paranoid that you need to carry everywhere 24/7 and can't enjoy a moment of sleep, peace or pleasure without your first though being wheres my gun and who is trying to kill me. being smart, cautious and careful is one thing. being so afraid that it ruins the life your trying to protect, not to mention those lives around you makes me wonder, why bother. i carry yet i don't shower with my gun. i don't wear a shoulder holster when making love and i don't have a panic attack when my gun is beyond arms length when i'm at home. what a life that would be.

^^^ Obviously you don't understand the spirit of the folks posting in this thread. We're afraid of nothing. We carry because we can. Fear has nothing to do with it. I've gone outside several times in the pitch black to investigate situations in which I'm concerned an innocent is being hurt. That's not fear, my friend, and I carried.

+1 on Mike123's post. They understand, Mike. It's just that they choose to mock anyone that takes gun ownership and carrying a step further than they do. I'm often in Massachusetts and I can't carry there, so I don't. No fear while there. Just less prepared that I usually am.

Fivepac/mike; you're on the money.

There were a ton of assumptions in his post; that we're rich, famous, afraid, paranoid, have no peace, and can't sleep......none of that describes me.

I carry because I can, that's it, that's all.

I really don't understand this. Nobody said it ruins our lives because we choose to carry. Who the heck said we can't enjoy sleep. Who said we are afraid? The gym is a place I choose to go. I choose to be armed while there. I go to movies. I choose to arm myself while there. What's the difference? It's absurd to equate arming one's self with paranoia. Come to think of it, isn't that a favorite tactic of the gun grabbers?

Like "bird watching", I believe I've spotted a troll......(anthonymsga)...two posts, both along the same lines.

Icedog; right on....

Are gyms off limits to criminals? Not that I've heard.
Would it matter to the criminal if they were?

Simple-carry whenever you can and wherever you can. To those screaming paranoid, are you trying to convince us, or yourselves?

Wow, the thought never even occurred to me. I have specifically thought of how scary leaving it in a locker is though...
I figure I would either carry it while working out, or leave it in the safe at home...!

I think concealed carrying your gun while working out is pretty paranoid. I would suggest if you MUST bring a gun with you to keep it in your gym bag or locker... or like he said. pepper spray :p

So in the gym shootings that have occurred, do you think the shooter would have been so kind as to as to let a victim go to his/her locker first to retrieve a gun?

Two posts and this is your attitude? Where are all the anti-gun trolls coming from?

I carry everyday and everywhere I am allowed to, but carrying while working out at the gym... sorry that just sounds a little crazy to me. I choose to carry to protect myself if the need arises, but I don't let fear and paranoia take over my life to the point where I need a gun at arms reach 24/7. Just live life and stop worrying so much.

Also some have defended themselves on here that it has nothing to do with fear and paranoia, your just fooling yourself. If you didn't fear that something bad could happen you wouldn't carry in the first place. Life is one big compromise, and carrying a gun while running on the treadmill is not one i'm willing to make.

Carrying in the gym is no more inconvenient than carrying anywhere else if done right. We all have a line when it comes to personal protection. I used to think carrying a bug was crazy. I still don't carry one and probably won't ever. Thou, I do carry an extra mag. To some that may be unnecessary. Some people feel carrying a gun at all is crazy. That's why I've learned not to judge others for where they've drawn that line.

I don't always carry at the gym. I tried it to see if I can. It worked out well. So I do it more than half the time I go.

To those who call it paranoid, where exactly do you draw the line? What is the point of carrying at all according to you? If my gym is in an affluent neighborhood rather than just "the hood", I may or may not change my level of protection. It's bad enough we have to protect ourselves from those who want to take the right to carry away by calling us paranoid, but to defend yourself from the same language from within your own "community" is much worse. Don't judge a man til you walk a mile...ever hear of such nonsense? It applies here. You buy me a membership to a gym in an area where there is no crime and you can give me an escort and we are good! Until then, I choose to carry in the gym. Judge me all you want.

I think you should carry a gun everywhere you can. I never thought I needed anything more than a shotgun at the house. Until one day I was washing my truck at the carwash and my daughter was sitting inside the truck. stepped 10 feet away around a corner to get more change and come back and there is a guy standing at the door of my truck staring at her inside. Yeah that time I was able to handle the situation without a gun. But what about next time? What if he had a gun and pulled it on me?
For those that don't agree with carrying watch the armed citizen channel on youtube. Armed citizens save innocent lives all the time. Nothing paranoid about carrying in the gym.
