Federal HST 124 gr 9mm in my Glock 26 and Smith M&P 9 Full size.

Hornady TAP FPD 55 gr in my AR-15.

Remington Core Lokt 180 gr SP in my Enfield No 5 Mk 1.

First I'll explain the living situation. I'm single so no worries about pluggin a "friendly" at home. Live in an old brick house. so here goes.

32-FMJs of whatever sort I can find.
44 Mag-240 gr. SWC from my Rock Chucker in front of 10 grains of Unique. I know handloads are bad, but I have shot this combo more than any other centerfire round
10mm-DoubleTap 200 gr. WFNGC
41 Mag-210 gr.LSWC 8.5 gr. Of unique at home, 175 gr. Winchester Silvertips away from home

For shotgun work, I have an affinity for the 3.5 inch 10 gauge. I use Federals 00 in these.

CZ P-01 9mm 124gr Gold dot +p
XD subcompact 9mm Winchester 124gr PDX1
Sig SP2022 124gr Gold dot +p
FNP 40S&W 165gr Federal LE bonded
PVC Spudblaster 10oz Idaho Russet

These are my primary CCW guns and the ammo they are most accurate with.

I am another that can't say anything for using his defensive guns against the fearsome two legged predator but I have found a .45ACP DPX that went in one side and out the other of a raccoon... Both the bullet and the raccoon where "fully expanded"

All smart-aleckness aside, the only test of these various types of ammo that I have been able to preform are on the critters getting into my trash or fighting with my cat in the middle of the night. ...and the pick of that litter? 240gr Hornady JHP on 21gr of H110 from the Redhawk. Not exactly my HD gun of choice but I haven't met anything on this side of the Mississippi that the .44 wouldn't kill.

All my carry guns are 9mm.

CZ-75b & CZ PCR: Federal 147gr hydrashoks, 124gr hydrashoks, Federal Hi-Shock 115gr+p+, Hornady Tap 124gr, Hornady Critical Defense 115gr.

Kel-tec PF-9: Hornady Tap 124gr, Critical Defense 115gr

Right now I'm carrying the 147gr hydrashoks in my PCR right now, in fact the last 29 rounds i have left of it. I've been carrying them for about 3 months, so next time I'm out at the range I'll shoot them and load up another option. I have a box of 50 124gr hydrashoks, and 50 TAPs, and 50 critical defense, so it'll be one of those.

50GI... 230gr SCHP. Expands over an inch in diameter. All else fails in comaprison. Bigger than the, ALL MIGHTY .45  boggly boggly. And not some stupid hand cannon too powerful for tactical operation.

Corbon .357 Magnum 125 gr. DPX in a S&W M&P-360
Corbon 9mm 115 gr. DPX in a Kahr PM9
I like the reliable barrier penetration of the DPX. Heavy clothing, sternum, bone, arms and skin won't be a problem. No feeding problems through the PM9, and the revolver's a non-issue.

Speer 357 Sig 125 gr. Gold Dot in a Glock 33
Speer .40 S&W 180 gr. Gold Dot in a Glock 27
Couldn't find DPX in these calibers but Gold Dot has good penetration, is reliable and is cheaper.

When I get a new (to me) caliber/gun I'll also get a smorgasbord of ammo available for it and see which one I, or the gun, like best. Here is an example of what I look at.

These are my current defensive choices:

CZ P-01/9mm : Remington 147gr golden saber bonded (GSB9MMC)

S&W 329PD/.44 spl : (in the home) Winchester 200gr silvertip (X44STHPS2)
S&W 329PD/.44 mag : (woods loafing) home rolled 240gr hardcast SWC/22gr 2400 :D

Glock 20|DW CBOB/10mm : I'm waffling between two DoubleTap loadings - 165gr golden saber vs. 155gr DPX. GS has deeper penetration in a wetpack test, DPX had more consistent expansion from water jug to wetpack.

Rem Marine Magnum/12 gage : Winchester 2-3/4" 1buck 16pellet (XB121)

Subject to change in the future!

I have consolidated my handguns to 2 in 9mm. I am one that does not believe there is the best caliber, I think they all have the pluses and minuses. I think a 9mm with modern ammo is a good choice.

For the same reason I choose one caliber, I have also chosen one bullet. I do not have to keep multiple types. All my handgun ammo is 9mm 124 gr Golden Sabres. I have a Keltec PF-9 and a Taurus 24/7 OSS. The Taurus might do a little better with a 147 gr round and +P loading, the Keltec is probably better with a 115 gr bullet. I went in between with the 124gr. I chose Golden Sabres, because it is what was available at the best price when I bought ammo. The GS feeds reliably in both guns.

My other home defense weapons are a Saiga 7.62x39 loaded with 154 gr Wolf SP and a Mossy 500 loaded with Truball slugs and Federal Tactical 00 buck.
