Guns with the art/scrollwork

Just wanted to know 1 thing: You guys that have these (I'm assuming expensive) guns, do you really carry them or just leave them at home in a glass case? If you carry them, thats just like playing outside with the autographed Walter Peyton football, you just don't do it, right?

I assume you're refering to engraved guns. I don't own any, but the few folks I know that do, collect them for for their beauty and would never put them in a holster for carry........................

Regards,

I love guns... and I love the way certain guns look. In fact I wont buy a gun if it's not somewhat visualy appealing to me. However, I cannot see myself spending my own money to buy a gun that I cant shoot. I might as well start collecting oil paintings... Just MHO

Some guns come from the factory already engraved - typically as collector or presentation grade limited editions. I suspect that very few of these are used very often (if at all). Others, people buy in plain condition and then have an engraver work on to their specifications. These, I suspect, get carried/used quite a bit.

Art/scroll work on weapons is kinda the same thing to me as Art/scroll work on women.
Interesting to look at, but I won't be bringin em' home.;)

but women with the artwork are freaky...

Yep! I dated this girl in college that had her whole back tattooed. It was actually kinda cool! Of course I had no idea until... errr

Anyway, I would love to carry a gun with some tasteful artwork on it. I just couldnt justify owning one that stayed in the safe all the time.

unless the art work included jewels that could get knocked off, why NOT carry it? If you invested enough money in it because you really like it, and it is a carry gun, then carry it and enjoy. If you just bought it for investment because it is rare, that's a different story altogether

I'm the same way. I love to look at beautifully engraved guns and antiques, but I can't bring myself to buy them. I'd much rather spend the money on something I don't mind running some rounds through now and again. Fortunately, my father loves some of the more ornate looking ones, so I get to see some nice hardware whenever I visit.

my autographed Tony Dungy football cost me $25. $25 for the ball and Dungy didn't charge me to sign it, total investment $25. Doesn't mean I'm going to throw it around, its in a case and hasn't moved. I'm pretty sure this response has nothing to do with anything.

Engraving doesn't wear out easily, so adorned guns carry as well as any other.
There is no difference in carrying an engraved gun or carrying a $2000 custom gun without engraving.

OK... so I'm "cheap"... but I do carry ( on occasion ), & actually shoot pretty often this limited edition "snake eyes" NAA Mini... BTW... it has "snake scales" lazer engraved on the gun, that don't show well in the pictures...

Depends on the extent of the engraving. If you spent thousands to have a custom engraving job and a fancy blue finish or something like gold inlay, well you would maybe not carry that. If you just went as far as to have your initials engraved in fancy script, how about that? Well some old old timers bought their Colts with factory engraving and carried them. Presumably the cost was not so much of a barrier then. But it depended on the extent of the engraving I guess. Cost is what keeps me from having any guns engraved.

I'm not big on engraved guns, most are too "busy" for my tastes. I only own 1 that I got from Ken, aka WildAlsaka, and it's carried in a SuperFly holster.
I've never owned a safe queen, and this one won't be either...everything I own get shot.
Oh yea, forgot to give credit to Jim White for the engraving. He's got his field down solid...great eye for detail.

You're all missing the point, an engraved gun is not for Daily Carry....it's for special occasions. I have packed a Renaissance High Power, only when wearing a tux. "Vodka martini please.....shaken, not stirred"

Personally, I don't have any, but I wouldn't let that stop me from carrying it, if I had one. Some of them are quite beautiful. But it doesn't take anything away from the gun's utility.
