Gunowners Shoot Themselves in the Foot Regarding R&D

Its not that we won't accept new ideas, its just we won't instantly, fawningly accept new ideas until we decide they are good ideas. As a market. There are exceptions, of course. The Judge comes to mind.....
That is a good point. The Judge has become an instant hit. Other examples of successful innovation might be the .40 S&W cartridge and the Glock.

Other innovations that seem to me to be good ideas haven't done as well. If the .260 Remington is only marginally better than cartridges people already use for a particular task, it might be slow to catch on. If an innovation is too slow to catch on, it will be abandoned by the big manufacturers.

While they both use wheels, there is a big difference between a wheel lock pistol and a K frame Smith. There is innovation in the firearms world, even if it isn't as dramatic as we'd like it.

the key is why do we as gun owners crush all the new ideas? ....or why do gun makers have such bad new ideas?

I'm still looking for Mateba to start up production of its auto-revolvers again...I always wanted one of those, don't know exactly why though.

Didn't Taurus make a rifle-barreled revolver designed to shoot birdshot? Come on, that one deserves to be crushed.

However, there have been some exceptional new technology poured into conceal carry guns. Rhorbaugh R9, Diamondback DB9, Ruger LC9, Keltec PF9. 10 years ago, I wouldn't have thought that a reliable pocket 9mm with 7-8 round capacity would be possible. 3 years ago I wouldn't have thought a reliable one would be economical.
