Gun show scare, I am not prepared.

but it's painfully obvious what type of work those guns will be put to.

And exactly what kind of work will those guns be put to? And you know this ............ how?

Other than it really opened my eyes to those intent on doing harm.

They bought a gun and you immediately assume they're going to do harm? They bought from a dealer and paid with cash. That means they passed the background check. Yeah, that sound suspicious.

I always thought the stereotypical hoodlum bought his weapons off the street from a guy name "fast" something or other. Or "fingers" louie.

I think you've been watching too much tv.

All three guns were paid for with cash from the paper sack.
Cash is the best all around medium of payment when it comes to negotiating deals.

These days the bad guys are very well armed. If they came to my door my mossy 500 just aint gonna cut it.

It won't it with that defeatest view you have.

Gangster #1 got a Tec-9 pistol. #2 a Saiga 12 with drum mag. And the big guy got some AR variant with beta mags. All three guns were paid for with cash from the paper sack.

If true (and I don't think it is) this is a huge red flag for a dealer as that could mean straw purchases. If one person bought the guns for other people I would be amazed if the ATF did not swarm the table. I don't know of any dealer who would sell to a suspected straw purchaser.

One person may have paid for all the guns, but that does not mean that any straw purchases were made. All that matters is whether or not they each did their own paperwork. If they did, then the source of the money isn't an issue.

There's nothing at all wrong with being cautious of someone who looks suspicious to you. If you think some one looks like a Dope Dealer, 1%'er, Gang Banger, Skin Head or Neo-Nazi you are not out of line keeping one eye peeled until you find out if they pose a real threat or not. That's called being cautious, it can keep you out of trouble and keep you alive. I can think of all kinds of people that might set my alarms off. AFTER you learn more then you can make a fully informed decision, until then keep your powder dry.

I was at a gun show, saw a middle aged guy with a camoflauge hat buying primers, he bought like a 1000 of them. So I got suspicious and kept an eye on him. Well, it wasn't long before he bought about 200 empty cases, they looked like high powered rifle cases to me. I think its more than obvious that this guy was a survivalist/terrorist type stockpiling for Armageddon.

The gun show that I went to, no one was setup to process credit cards and they weren't going to take checks.

Of course keeping cash in a paper bag is a little strange...

I don't really know what to say about this experience. Other than it really opened my eyes to those intent on doing harm. And I no longer consider anything we have as adequate for home defense
Then I would strongly recommend that you improve your skills.
Quit fretting about what the other guy has, and concentrate on making what you have more effective.

The only time you have to really worry about what's in the other guy's hand(s), is when the hole in the end of it is pointed in your direction.

It's not your function in life to control what someone else has.
It's you function in life to be better than the other guy & better prepared if "stuff" happens.

Funny how?

Because in that thread to which he was referring, the way that people dress, according to most of the postings, DID indicate that the people in question must have been thugs up to no good. Here in this thread, it seems to be completely opposite.;)

A group of three males seemed suspicious to me so I decided to observe for a few moments. Now I'm not here to start some racial BS so we'll leave that out, but these fellas were innercity gangbangers no doubt.

Do please share with us the training and acumen that allows you to make such determinations.

Tom Servo - You're correct about not judging a book by its cover. I always did think that the Humpfrey Bogart character in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre was way out of line for not being more welcoming to that cozy group of Mexican travelers he met along the trail. I mean, where does he get off asking them to show him their stinking badges!

I love this statement:

A group of three males seemed suspicious to me so I decided to observe for a few moments. Now I'm not here to start some racial BS so we'll leave that out, but these fellas were innercity gangbangers no doubt. The three were very obviously standing out from the crowd of mostly redneck Kentuckians. All wore thugged out clothing and spoke in virtually unintelligible slang. The fella in charge carried a paper bag of cash. I say fella in charge because the other two treated him as a C/O whatever their relationship actually was. Any how, they spent a good deal of time looking over the sprayguns before making their decisions.

Your statement reads like this: Now I am not going to start racial BS but I am going to make some statements and then some assumptions based on race and racism.

Clearly you have an issue with "certain" people exercising their 2nd amdendment rights because of the "way" they look. Your veiled attempt to hide your racism simply is not working.

I work in a bank in WV and I cannot tell you how many people of all ages, races and genders come into the bank with large sums of cash in paper bags or plastic grocery bags.

Is it just my imagination, ...or does it seem that recently there has been a creeping invasion on to this forum by new members who's aim it appears is to start inappropriate and/or controversial threads?

I hope you never get a chance to shoot at my place when my nephews are around... You would be scared really bad. One of them even looks at little darker than the others...

The wear those dang "Gangsta" hoodies, talk in a language that I am sure is not known outside of their group (Even their mothers can not understand them most of the time, let alone an uncle) and like to shoot things.

The biggest crime I can remember them committing, and I was really upset over, was them shooting holes in all my paper, stick-on Target's and then leaving them out in the field for the cows to graze over.

Stereo-typing seems to be something we do automatically and can be difficult to over-come. Especially if the only people you associate with are pretty much like you. It is amazing how so many scary people can suddenly be pretty cool when you get to know them.

Strictly from a personal opinion, this is one of the smartest things I have read on here not dealing strictly with firearms. Thank you. Nice to know that there are people who hold this view on this forum. There are a few others I could mention but you know who you are.

What the heck am I supposed to do with the bag after I finish my 40 then?

Well you should probably put your .40 in a holster and throw the bag out.

Controversy isn't all bad. It's through these threads we see the cream rise to the top and the others fade.

I think I will call this one.

Gun owners in general are seen as loonies by the anti population.

I get that in my work environment.

We don't need to get into profiling here.

Closed.
