Gun packing teacher

My wife and I are considering homeschooling when our 6 month old is ready. She's an Elementary teacher, and I'm an aspiring H.S. Gov. and Hist. teacher. There's a lot of truth to the statement made by Equalizer. I don't want my kids to model behavior of their classmates, I want them to model adult behavior. There is a philosophy of parenting that is prevalent lately, that your kids "hatch" when they turn 18. This is to say that your kids can act any-which-way, and when they turn eighteen, they'll automatically behave as an adult. It's a liberal thing and I don't understand it, but they still think of a 17 year old as a "child" when it comes to behavior. I joined the Army at 17! Anyway, In Texas, the entire school system is becomming a test-driven system. One test. It evaluates students, teachers, schools, school-districts, and entire populations. It's called TAAS, and it is the single most stupid thing ever perpetrated on the taxpayers. The idea of making schools more accountable is a laudable one, but the government has it backwards. Schools aren't accountable to government, they are accountable to posterity (kids, grandkids and so-on). There is a great organization for all you parents who can't homeschool, but would like the untaught lessons to be taught. It's called 4H. The kids (male and female) are taught shooting skills, community service, agriculture projects (raising somthing), and other valuable life skills. Look into it. I rate it higher than boy-scouts, and much, much higher than girl scouts. It's just another tool.

My family has always shunned public schools. Home schooling or military schools, I got the latter because of time restraints. (no regrets!)
PlusP, Congrats. If you need any materials or contact info, let me know.

The support on this one is terrific. Now we are deciding if we tell the county child protection types to get lost and let em start court actions to try and make us give them a statement. I don't think what is going on is any of their business. Last time wife got into a fight like this she took it to the state supreme court and WON. Not bad for a kid of 23 and no legal training. She acted as her own lawyer also.
Other side spent over $50K, we spent $300 or so.

We have been home schooling my son since day 1. He is now 15. One organization you should be a member of is Home School Legal Defence Assn. (www.hslda.org) Their purpose is to assist with thing like pushy social workers/school districts, etc. We have used them for advice on a couple different occasions, and they will provide a local lawyer for assistance when needed.
Home schooling can be work, but it looks like he is going to get a better education than I did. Hang in there and keep us posted

Wife is using two lawyers she works for. She doesn't want to get nice on this. Good things we require teachers to carry guns. Had a kid shot next to my house yesterday morning. See, it pays off. They didn't get my kid.

As far as Israel goes...remember all those M1 Carbines that came in as surplus about 4 or 5 years ago...a lot of them were Israeli school guard guns. Some teachers were issued them, but every school had to have some armed guards with military firearms (M16's and UZI's most often).

In Ireland police watch schools very close and many are fenced with high security. Schools in all lands are very desired targets and a focus for terrorists. Our country is still very lax on security issues compared to most other nations.
Darrell home schooling? At least the child shall know how to shoot and speak his mind.
