Gun magazines testing for accuracy. Larger round counts.

Well Depris,
Do many gun writers get equipment to keep free or at extremely reduced cost?
Do many gun writers get sent on expense paid hunting trips?
Do some gun writers get sent to Africa on extremely high dollar Safaris to test new Safari rifles?
Do writers get brought to Africa free so they can go back home and rave about how wonderful their outfitter was?

If you answer yes to any of that, then you proved my point for me.

I'm done trying to reply to this thread. I'm getting a headache at the sheer amount of replies that just don't make any sense or replies that are repeating questions that have been answered multiple times.

Would a logical person write good things about a crappy gun in order to get a good deal on said crappy gun?

Sell them. Collect them. A a rifle that is not all it is advertised to be is still a pretty good thing to have around if you get if for free or almost free.

I have often wondered how some of the legendary writers came about their extensive collections of firearms.

Frankly,I've pretty much quit buying gun mags.Nothing wrong with them...Oh,I suppose I miss the old writers.

I liked the old mags.

And,I liked the Wolfe Publication mags.

I am not shocked, disappointed,or disillusioned that magazines are marketing tools ,primarily. In balance, without content for the reader, who buys the magazine? So,we need good writers.

I see no need to paint all writers with the same brush.

I enjoyed Elmer,Pete,Charlie,PO,Warren,Skeeter,Finn,Jim,Mike V,Ross,Jobson,...many more.

Its funny, for all of this discussion,I recal back when the M-70 Classic Laredo and the Sendero came out...I was reading about them.I had bought a Laredo.

The gun writers were shooting 1 3/8,1 1/2 in groups!!

I wondered what was wrong with them, bad ammo,or bad shots!!

I fail to see what Dpris is doing wrong,so long as he packages it honestly"This is one of the better 3 shot groups"...What is the beef?

And if he got 3/8 or 2 in,each rifle shoots different.Don't expect the one you buy to shoot exactly the same.

They don't have the luxury of trying lots of loads to find what works in a particular gun.

They just shoot what is there, and take what they get

I have a Stoeger pellet rifle that, if I did a review using Crosman pointed pellets, I'd have to say it's a piece of junk that won't hit a sheet of paper at 25 yds

If I used Crosman Flathead pellets, it will do about a 1" group

I don't pay much attention to group sizes in those articles
