Gun Laws in Colorado??

Hello all,
I am moving from AZ to CO, I am wondering what the laws are there.

Can I take my guns there? And what I mean is, here in AZ I can buy guns and do not need to register them, so all my guns have been bought from private parties and although Federally legal to own here, are they there?

1 RIA 1911
1 Arcus 9mm
1 .22 rifle

So we are not talking about AK-47's, Uzi's, or AR-15's... I already sold all those. lol

I found this, http://crime.about.com/od/gunlawsbystate/p/gunlaws_co.htm does this still sound accurate?

No registration
No waiting
No purchase license (a la FOID)
No purchases per month limit
CCW is shall issue
No bans beyond federal limits

You might want to check out these sites:

http://www.rmgo.org/ (They have a good summary of CO gun laws.)

No problem I can think of with your collection.

ETA: Your link looks up to date on the laws.

IIRC- there was some stipulation about being in the city of Denver with weapons. I drove through a few times , and just happened to have a loaded 45 in the console. No problems, but Police dont have x ray vision either.:D

CO state laws are very similar to AZ, but be aware that CO has no preemption, and some localities (most notably Denver) have gun laws that are considerably more restrictive than state law.

Actually, CO does have preemption. Unfortunately, it's not worth the paper it's written on. I'm not arguing with your point, though: Watch out if you're in Denver for any extended period of time.

A local government may not enact an ordinance, regulation, or other law that prohibits the sale, purchase, or possession of a firearm that a person may lawfully sell, purchase, or possess under state or federal law. Any such ordinance, regulation, or other law enacted by a local government prior to March 18, 2003, is void and unenforceable.

Somehow, Denver sued and got an exception from a friendly court.

Are there any other "home rule" municipalities in CO? If there are, it seems to me that under this decision they have the same right as Denver to pass local gun control laws

A handful of towns got open carry bans thanks to Denver's "leadership." I don't know if they used the same "home rule" argument.

Moving from Arizona to Colorado, you will still enjoy most of the freedoms that you are accustomed to. Places like Denver are the exception, not the rule.

Take it from me, you're still in gun-friendly country--I live in New Jersey! :(
