grips for a 44 mag

Kernel, how was I supposed to know that you were so "dependable"? I'll pay closer attention to what you have to say next time!!! :) Don't know about if Uncle Mike's makes a set to fit the Redhawk or not - I'll check it out.

I've been looking at Eagle Grips http://www.eaglegrips.com/ Michaels of Oregon (Uncle Mike's) http://www.uncle-mikes.com/ Houge http://www.getgrip.com Ajax Grips and several other custom makers.

I want somthing that covers up the backstrap as the Houge rubber does not cover the backstrap and it really kills my hand after a few rounds.

Visit Houge's web site and fill out the cataloug request form. They have a sharp cataloug!!! Houge is also the maker of S&W's wood "combat" grips

Do what I'm going to do and take Fusby's advice. Check out http://www.herrett-stocks.com/ When the 629 comes home I'm planning on sending in a tracing of my hand along with the revolvers butt. Otherwise I was going to go with the Eagle Classic grips.

Joey, I'll check out the sites you suggested. I already checked out Herrett's site. Before I spend that kind of money I would have to see what they felt like installed. Not to mention I would have to absolutely LOVE them - thats a lot of money to shuck out for grips.

Joey,
The Jordan troopers cover the back strap but they continue the curve and fill in the hump that is in the backstrap of revolver frames, this allows the pistol to roll ever so slightly and is the primary reason these grips work as well as they do...now they are large grips, so be sure your hand can fit them. Ive found that if the stocks are wide at the web of the hand it spreads the recoil over a larger arrea and the back strap dosent have to be covered in that case....also herrets has a design that I havent used which seems similar to the J. troopers and they are calling it their "shooting master", you might want to look at that one as well as the rest of what they make.......
$85 or so is not a lot of money for custom stocks.....especially of this quality. Blu Magnum is almost twice that expensive and they are hi-quality as well. There are others I just dont recall att. Ive tried eagle grips and didnt like the quality of the finished product, I have two sets for concealed revolver's stuck in a box of stuff i dont use anymore......fubsy.
