Great Article on Where to put your Gun at Night

Mine didn't come with an AC adapter - just battery pack. I could probably find an ac adapter and figure out how to make it work, but I'd much rather have the mechanical one, now that I know it exists.

My gun too is locked up at night. I have a hard time believing someone breaking into my house at night would be able to do so without making enough noise to wake up me, or my wife, or the dogs. Cell phone is on the night stand and I can retrieve the gun with one hand while dialing with the other.

For those of you who do not regularly have children in your home and feel it is safe to leave a gun within easy access and reach at night, do you have a system for remembering to secure it for those nights when you do have kids around? Talking to some members at my gun club about this very subject, one mentioned that he and his wife have no kids still at home, and he leaves his 1911 on the bedside table within instant reach. He then admitted that one night recently they had two of their grandchildren in the house with their parents, and it wasn't until one of the kids asked about "the gun by your bed" that he remembered to secure it before going to sleep. There are not many things that I can honestly say I do 100% of the time, including taking important medications, so I am not willing to take the risk of ever forgetting to lock up my gun at night. Keeping it locked up routinely makes it less likely that I will have ever the tragedy of a grandchild getting hold of a loaded gun in my home.
