GP-100 on it's way.

Congrats. I believe the 686 has a better trigger but just a hair better. As a 686 owner, I'm not sure it is $200 better either. The GP is a great gun and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I just bought a NIB GP 100 with 4" barrel today. It came with the crappy Hogue grips.:( Fortunately, the gunsmith had a pair of the old style grips that he ordered from Brownell's for another customer (that backed out of them).

They are actually the "compact" version. I would prefer the full size ones but these are still way better than the Hogues. The difference between the old standard and compact factory grips doesn't seem to be too much. Plus, I kinda like the thumb rest on the compact grips.

Nice choice of weapons! Don't worry about putting too many rounds through that thing, they are tough. I've never owned one (shot my brother in laws quite a bit), but I want one so bad it hurts :(.

the only thing I don't like is it says "read manual" on the barrel. Its not a big deal just think it would look better not there.

Yah, I'm not sure if that's for naughty kids or what? I'm glad I read the barrel; I could've seriously been hurt . They've been around awhile; my 79 Security Six has one, but my 77 does not.

BTW if anyone has a pair of the full size grips with the wood inserts and would like to swap even for a pair of the compact ones with wood inserts, PM me.
