Got two new pistols

The XDm is a nice one. My brother has one in 9mm. I really like it. I like the lights for the HD guns. I got the Streamlight TLR-1s on my XD9, really like it.

Okay, brief range report...

Have been to the range twice with these new pistols. Once alone, and once with my wife and stepdaughter

I like the XDm, shoots well. Recoil is not bad at all in .40 S&W. No malfunctions so far, but I've only put about 150 rounds through it, so that doesn't mean much. However, I believe it will be pretty reliable. It seems capable of being very accurate, although my skill has deteriorated a bit....had been a few years since the last time I'd gone shooting. By the end of the session first session I was back to about the level I had been before. My best 5-shot groups were all in the ten ring at 7 yards.

The Ruger .22 has almost no recoil. It's pretty accurate. My best target with it was 20 shots, 15 in the ten ring and 5 in the 9 ring, probably all at 7 yards. I expect I'll improve that as I practice a bit more.

The wife and stepdaugher both like the .22. Neither of them likes recoil much. My wife's favorite gun is my magna-ported S&W Model 19, with .38 Special. She has fired a few .357s, but doesn't like them.

Oh, I also got a Crimson Trace Lightguard tactical light for the XDm. Mounted it, works well, though it's way too easy to trigger the light, hard to NOT trigger the light. Have not shot it with the light mounted on it yet. Not sure how much shooting I should do with the light mounted on it, don't want to damage the light, not sure how durable it is for extended shooting practice.

My only negative impression is that I'm wishing I had held out to get the two-tone model with the stainless slide. Would look a lot better, but that's just aesthetics.

For what it's worth, I've owned several models in both styles and I prefer the black slide. The stainless XDM slides are much more slippery than the black ones so you don't get as good of traction. I do agree that the 2 tone looks better, that's why I have the OD frame with black slide. :)

It should be fine. Crimson Trace makes a solid product. It would be better to shoot it and see if anything rattles loose now, that way you can send it in to CT for warranty repair or replacement if there's an issue. Shoot it with confidence.
