Got an 870 Marine Magnum today

their a bit nose heavy for my tastes... but the first mod i would suggest is a "dynamic trigger and action job" - which will evolve naturally over the time it takes to shoot 800 rounds..

Here is a general question for you shotgun guys, can a EMPTY shotgun be cycled and dry fired repeatedly?

I find my self with my Mosinis always cycling and dry firing them, would this harm a shot gun?
 
870s can be dry cycled indefinitely. The buzz was that dry firing one in very cold weather could break the firing pin. Seen it happen, once.
