Got $600 to spend on gun. Which one?

Ok, guys. Here's the deal. I have 600 bucks to spend on a gun at the OGCA show in Cleveland May 13th. No Glocks -- already have one. No CZs, already have one. No HK USPs, had one didn't like it. No Sigs, already have one. No 1911s, already have one. No AKs, had one didn't like it. No shotguns, I have too many. No ARs, already have one. No revolvers, already have one. No lever actions, I've already ordered one. The gun must have an ambi-safety or no safety at all. So what should I get? Browning Hi-power in 9mm is at the top of my list, if I can find one. Anything else I should consider? Thanks guys.

Browning HP, 9mm. You, sir, are a genius. :)

Slick & Weasel or Ruger for ambi safeties/decockers. You could get a P. 38 or a Luger for that kind of money. I like Hi-Powers, too. How about a .22 lr target pistol? Got a mousegun?

Dude, sounds like you figured it out yourself. Hi-Powers accept ambi safeties, don't they?

That's what I'd buy if I had the money and already had a revolver in .357 and a CZ and a 1911.

Remington 700 BDL, caliber of your choice.

Ruger 77, caliber of your choice.

Ruger MkII .22

Ruger 22/45

3 Lee Enfields, No.1 MkIII, No.4 mk2, 2A1.

Clips, speedloaders, and accessories for your existing arsenal :D

Luger

Ruger P95 AND a P97

Calico 9mm :D

Personal preference... what a concept.

If you're just buying something to round out your collection, I suggest getting a nice .22 handgun or rifle. For $600, you could get a used S&W M41 in excellent condition, an IZH-35M (with enough money left over to get the Morini stocks) or a nifty, tricked-out Ruger 10/22.

For a centerfire handgun, how about:

Browning HP

HK P7M8 (possibly closer to $800)

Ruger Bisley Vaquero (assuming that the revolver you have now is double action)

Kahr K9

Hey, I know, they usually have a gattling gun or two. Now to load it you just pull the rubber band back......oh, well you didn't have THAT listed.

I guess you could just end your misery and send ME the $600.00. I will have absolutely NO problem deciding on what to buy! :D

Sorry I guess I'm in a sarcastic mood today. ;)

I never thought of a .22! This is why I posted this question. So now my choices are between a browning hi-power or a Browning or Ruger .22. Keep the suggestions coming.

Get a Beretta. My Beretta92 FS is stainless, has night-sights and came with one hi-cap mag. It cost me $625. I only paid $400 though because I traded my Ruger P95. GET A BERETTA!

Can't make a bad buy with a Beretta, Check out the Cougar series they are nice guns. Also if you can wait til June they should have the new 9000 series on the street.
But you didn't make a bad choice with the High Power either :)

Happy Spending :D

Happy Shooting :)

Looking at .22's should also include a SIG/Hammerli Trailside, a mod 41 (you can by a used early gun for about what a new one would cost and have a better more collectable pistol), an original Hamden made High Standard Victor or Trophy. How about deep concealment like a Kel-Tec P32 or Autauga MkII, with either those you would still have enough left over for a Ruger MkII .22. You say you already have a revolver, well a Ruger Super Redhawk with a 9.5" barrel is very different from a S&W 342. I don't know about your Glock but the Steyr S is now available as is the Kahr P9, though I prefer the MK9 for concealment in a pocket or ankle holster.

I'll try not to rehash everything above because everyone makes good suggestions. Some additional selections are:

For full/mid size, the Walther P99. No safety, but it has a decocker on top of the slide. I have one and love it.

For compact, a Walther PPK. Shoots nice and is real easy to carry in an ankle holster. I could also suggest the Kel-Tecs, but have no personal experience with them.

In a .22, another option is the S&W 22S (or 22A if you don't like stainless). Doesn't have an ambi-safety, but I don't think any of them do. I have a 22S with a Pro-Point 3 and it shoots great.

Browning Hi-Power is a great pistol, but do not EVER shear a cam block in one, endless trouble if you do, except possibly if Browning does the repair, and then if you had removed the magazine safety, before sending the pistol back to Browning, put the magazine safety back in the pistol.

Hey I bought a ruger 22 today. I got the cheaper polymer 10/22 pistol for $200.

Since i only spent 200 smackeroos i had money left to buy a simmons holo-scope for $69

Wow, a fantastic plinker that I can shoot for years to come with minimal cost for ammo, and all for around $300 even.

Just think, if you were to get the same package i did, you have $300 left to buy ammo. At $10 a box of 500 rounds 22long, 300 bucks total=15 thousand rounds. Thats alot of practice !

Good luck, I hope you are as pleased as I am, With whatever you buy !

Tim : )

Why dont you get rid of that nickel plated sissy pistol and get yourself a glock. :::Tommy Lee Jones:::

Does the Taurus 945 come in an ambi model? If it does, I recomend it, not for 6 maybe $350-$420. The one I tried had a smooth trigger and was very accurate. Feels real good.

How about getting some DIFFERENT type guns? You seem to have a pretty good self defense set of guns, why not expand the scope of your collection? $600 is enough to get some great "different" guns.

No4 Mk1* Enfield rifle - $150
Bulgarian NIB Milsurp Makarov (no ambi safety, but the safety is really a decocker) - $160
NAA Minirevolver in 22mag/22lr - $180
And money left over for ammo...

They may not be considered TOP SHELF, but all of these guns are VERY well made and fun to shoot! Why get another of the same type gun?

Of course the Beretta, HP, and Trailside are no slouches either ;)

wait just 1 minute here. you have ONE glock and now you can't buy any more?!? since when is just ONE glock good enough???? you should have numberous glocks! i would suggest a G34, or a compact or full sized 9mm or .357sig. the G34 is a bit more than the other glocks but you an afford it. its great for target shooting and just about anything else. spend the extra money on hi-caps, a holster and ammo.

also a beretta is a great idea. they have ambi safeties on them. i would suggest the 92G Elite. i have one and i shoot it very accurately. its great for target shooting and is still very reliably. mine functions great and i love it.

Beretta Cougar 8045. Ambi safety, compact, a great low-profile, excellent weight/balance, instinctive point and shoot accuracy, and the lightest recoil of any 45.

Plus it makes great big holes in the center of the target.

$600 comes NIB with a spare clip and brushes. Enjoy.

Life is far too short to spend it with an ugly gun...

1. ANOTHER GLOCK
2. Browning High Power
3. save for ANOTHER AR15.
