Goodbye to an Old Friend

Sorry, DorGunR.

It's odd, considering what some of us have been through, how the passing of a friend can hurt so deeply. Those who might say, "It's only a pet" show a shallowness beyond our comprehension.

DG,
The only thing to do now is remember the good times even if it's hard to do. Soon you'll not remember the loss as much as the fun you 2 had. I have lost alot of dogs in the short time I've been on this earth but I try not to remember how they left my life, but the way they could look at me and seem to know exactly how I felt at that moment. When your sad they come lay their head on your lap, when your happy they bring their favorite toy to you to play with them, and when your mad they just stay out of the way. My sincere condolences to you, I know your loss all too well. :(

My condolences gunner. I have a lovable dog and if he were to pass away, I'd be heart-broken. Hang in there

DorGunR,

I've had to take many of my fur-faced friends to their last trip over the years. It doesn't get easier with practice. My eyes are misty just thinking of your pain and remembering.

It's a little easier if your friend left behind a pup to console you.

Someone who misses their dog like you do is the kind of man or woman I like being around. God bless you.

DG-
Add my voice to those who share your loss. My own Mr. Elvis is going on 15 now....a bit of arthritis, deaf as a post and he's gained weight. I know I face the day. I hope it won't be soon.

A Dog's Plea

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart that beats inside of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my waiting ear.

Please take me inside with you when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to the bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilage of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.

Feed me clean food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding; to walk by your side and protect you with my life should your life be in danger.

And, my friend, when I am very old and no longer enjoy good health, hearing, and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me with you. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.

Ditto for me too DG.
We lost our little Schnauzer of 13yrs + some odd months last August 1st. We still miss her, and haven't decided if we would even try to find another to fill the void.

Our neighbors across the street picked up a Schnauzer a couple weeks ago, and we hear her all the time, and I swear to God, I think it's little Megan at the door barking, wanting back in...(sigh).

Best Regards,
Don

The most foolish mistake we could make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms; history shows that all conquerers who have allowed their subjected people to carry arms have prepared their own fall.

Sorry to hear about Pal. You have my symphathies. Goodness knows my furries are just like kids to me, and the loss, while expected, is tremendous. 14 years is a good long life though. Pal is doubtlessly happier now that he's relieved from his decrepit earthly body. May he chase many a ball and frisbee in the hereafter. Consider getting another pet. The inevitable grief is great, but the joy of sharing our lives with our pets is greater.

As hard as it is, you did the right thing.
So sorry for your loss. You are a very brave soul. Steve
