Good gun handling movie - "John Wick."

I spent the afternoon watching a shoot-em-up movie called "John Wick" on HBO.
(HBO is free until Sept, by the way).
The gun handling and gunfights were really good, especially for something from Ole' Sillywood.
Someone's obviously been to school.
The gunfight scenes are kind of like watching IPSC/USPSA stages on youtube.
Other than the obvious computer graphics filling in for gunfire, it was quite believable, for a change.
I couldn't find nearly as much reason for my criticisms as usual.

Taran Butler, one of the top sports shooters in the US, has posted videos of his Facebook page of their team training with Keanu Reeves for that movie.

He's also posted similar videos with Will Smith and Michael Rooker (Merle on the Walking Dead)

why does Hollywood think competition guns make really cool looking guns for gunfights?),

Same reason they love the Desert Eagle, they are more visually impressive than standard service model guns.

Its all about what looks good, not what they actually do.

You know your bad if.
#1 Your an assassin and can retire if you want too.

#2 You actually scare the heck out of the Russian Mafia.

Good movie for action buffs.

I liked the movie however there was one part that made no sense. When he (John Wick) fought his way into the bathhouse, he had that that guy (Reek, in game of thrones) in his sights and did not shoot. That made no sense for a assassin to pass up that chance.

bandaid1,
It's still Silly... er Hollywood.
Can't have the climax of the movie occur too early.
The bad guy has to last long enough to allow the theater to sell as much popcorn as possible.

Not sure if Keannu Reeves is moving past his prime or just the story line required an emotionless actor but John Wick just seemed to be a revamp of the Punisher . Decent storyline, great action.

Aside from Keanu Reeves being miscast in every single film he has ever appeared in, Hollywood does love a good visual when it comes to firearms.

They're still using Mauser Broomhandle pistols for the bad guys to carry.

Bill and Ted was a perfect role for him. I love Keanu.

As for Wick, I thought it was a phenomenal action flick. I have a P30 and the P30Ls were fun to see. All the action was perfectly shot.

Saw John Wick today. Very enjoyable.

Which makes me think the topic of good/recommended gun movies might be a good thread on its own. I also enjoyed Shooter and, while I don't much care for Tom Cruise, I also liked also Jack Reacher.

Agreed on the last two, except I was pretty sure they were the same movie about halfway through Shooter (I saw Jack Reacher first). If you've seen both movies, think about the plot lines, you'll probably see what I mean. However it was nice to watch movies without picking apart all of the gun-handling faux pas.

It was fun. The bad guys did suffer from Star Wars Trooper firearms training. Couldn't hit a guy standing in the open a few times.

But I did like some of the Mozambiques having just done 4 of them in a match the day before I saw the movie.
