Good for me but, I dont understand it.

I'll tell why I would do it. I reload but I have no interest in 45 Colt brass. I would walk right past a 5 gallon bucket of it.

Now a pile of once-fired Lapua Match brass in .223 or 6mm BR Norma would catch my eye 'cause that's what I use, but I don't search the considerable amount of brass on the ground at my local range 'cause most folks don't discard Lapua Match cases.
No you don't but when you do find that 1 guy shooting factory Lapua223, 308 or 338 ammo who doesn't reload, you're like

Swept up dozens of .38, 44LC, .44 special brass this week.

One person collected .38 brass on table and once done tossed it out in front of the shooting line .

I was happy to pick it up later.

The first range I became a member provided me with 5 gallon pails (9mm.,.38spl.,.40 and .45acp) of empties over several years. That was before they changed their policy and I moved on. I am lucky enough to have friends that work at military facilities where a lot of qualifying goes on. They give me 5 gallon pails of 9mm and .45acp. and .223/5.56. I am a lucky guy.

I'm really lucky, my range lets me scoop brass to my hearts content. I always come home with about 4 times as much as I shoot. I even got to dig through the pail of brass when I noticed it was full of .38 special. I would absolutely faint though if I ever scored some .41 mag brass, now that would be a find.

... And I'd be doing a dance :) . I've yet to ever run into any .45 Colt, .44 Special, or .44Mag brass left at the range. I did find a few cases of .357 once though. I can't understand/fathom it either ... but easily accepted :p .
