Whoa! this is a first no 1911's..I have an array of carry weapons that I switch to under different conditions, living in IN you learn to not rely on weather predictions.I often carry a Colt Detective special in a safariland crossdraw, opentop holster,or my SP-101 in a pancake style holster. As mentioned other than being very familiar with your weapon,I think the right holster is paramount in the carrying game.I most often carry a SA V-10 compact 45acp in a Galco crossdraw rig, this is one of my most comfortable carry methods(for me anyway)for a steel gun I hardly notice it,after a short time, which speaks volumes for the holster. I also carry a 1991 series 80 government model in a Bianchi belt slide, good thing about these are almost any 1911 will fit in any of these holsters,so makes for alot of choices. As many know the slim, flat profile of most 1911's are ideal for carry, they really snug up nest to the body and hide well.My all the time gun is a Keltec P-32,I am more impressed with this little cap gun every time I shoot it,and it is a breeze to carry,so when I am not carrying,I always have the P-32..My 2 cents...PJ
