The description the OP gave is pretty much the norm, rather than the exception in Alaska.

FYI, Alaska is one of the last great places on earth, for hundreds of reasons, not just the wonderful firearms climate... I just hope it stays that way.

90% of the people who are pulled over in Alaska are packing for practical reasons and also because it is legal in the state with no permit as long as you can legally own guns.
