good carry knife?

Quote: "well, I hate WM. but yeah, what about the gun brands? (Remington, S&W) - are those pretty decent?"

Those are Chinese bladed. Some of the S&W have quality blades that just happened to be from a good batch of steel, and I have a few, but there aren't many.

If you want a good carry knife you're gonna look for Spyderco, SoG, Kershaw, a few Gerbers are ok, Buck, Cold Steel, Benchmade, anything Ken Onion, Mick Strider, Steve Tarani.

Edit: Those Colt knives look nice, very similar to Kalashnikov, but the AK knives are illegal in most states, not to stop to many people though.

Edit 2: Oh yeah forgot Emerson.

I see you at some point stated 'those are pricey'. I have had good luck with CRKT knives lately. They aren't quite as expensive as some and seem to take abuse well. I have a Benchmade AFCK and an Emerson Commander that I carry, but I also do as some others have stated here.... have some cheaper ones around for utility purposes.

Contrary to another posting here, I LIKE my defense knife to be razor sharp. If I have to get through a coat or other barrier to get to the bad guy, I'd like it to go through with as little effort as possible. To each his own, and I do understand the intent of that post I believe, not trying to start any arguments. :)

This has been a great thread. I've seen several knifes that I'm interested in now! At good prices.... especially that benchmade Pika. Didn't even know that existed.

Thanks to everyone

I had a nice remington that i carried when out at night in a bad neighborhood I used to live in. Great knife and I have proof.

I had a couple not too friendly drunk come up to me so I reached into my pocket for it, they turned out to be harmless after a few words but i damn near cut my thumb off. still got a nice scar to keep me reminded to not be so darn jumpy.
