I'm carrying a Kershaw right now but it will be replaced w/a Benchmade or Spyderco soon. they have the best steel right now.

You can always go to Wally World and get a $9.99 pocket knife. There are tons of decent Chinese blades for less than the above.

Most of those are rebadged Chinese blades. But yeah, they'll cut stuff and stay sharp enough for long enough.

I carry a SOG Flash model.

Me too. Good knives. Got two for 35.00 ea. from a member of my local forum recently.

To the OP,

Check into the leatherman series knives. C301 and C303 are both good knives for not a whole lot of money.

Kershaw. Pick one up at Wal-Fart or any sporting goods store for $35-$100, depending on what model you want. Relatively cheap and reliable, made with good quality steel... Can't be beat for the money IMO.

I'm partial to Columbia River these days. I used to carry a Spyder Co, but replaced it with a CRKT Mount Rainier I picked up for $35 at Gandar Mountain. I like it since it is a line-lock knife, but has a safety latch that blocks the lock and prevents it from clipping past the lock and closing (I've had that happen before).

I have a few CRKT knives and am also very fond of them. None of the particular models I have are very suitable for EDC because of their size (more field/camping/hunting oriented) but they have some quality products for not much $.

Its a knife. In self defense it is meant to stab somebody, not shave their arm hair. I would say get the cheapest largest folding knife you can find, unless it is so horrible the blade is literally going to fall off on impact.

I got one of these at Cabelas to replace a knife i lost. Great knife, sharp, easy to conceal, and a bargain. $40 here in Spokane.

YOu can pay a ton of money for a knife, but ultimately, this works. I woudn't want it used against me. The spring action is reliable, and easy to learn. I can draw, deploy, and old up this knife in total darkness. Its very efficient and well designed.

Worst cutlery advice I have ever seen!
