Good bye New Jersey

I'm finally giving NJ the kiss off and relocating to Pennsylvania.

Looking for suggestions for an IWB carry semi-auto. I would prefer a single stack, external hammer weapon.

My daughter swears by her PPK .380 and I do liove my Hi Power but it is quite a bit wide.

I am opoen to calibers as well.
Hey crafter, congrats on the escape! What county did you move to just out of curiosity. While the keystone state is a lot friendly when it comes to guns, I've heard that some counties make getting your LTCF a difficult process (Monroe county comes to mind)

I've had my PA LTCF for several years. PA is still a "shall issue" state, so unless something negatory comes up in the BG check to withhold the license, the PA firearms statutes mandate that the license to carry is issued after a 45 day investigation period to approve the application, or to reject the application and deny the license outright. I've never had to wait more than 2 weeks for the original license or for the one renewal I currently have.

AFAIK, and unless the law may have changed since I last checked, every PA county "except Philadelphia" administers the LTCF through the county sherrif's office. The Phila. Police Dept., Office of the Chief of Police, administers the LTCF within Philadelphia county, and they have been notorious for delaying issuance of carry permits for that 45 day investigation period, and then some:confused: My information comes from a friend who's a retired Philly cop, and he runs an indoor range inside the city limits.

congrats on your escape.

there are many slim 9mm pistols on the market. google will give you more than you think. youtube videos will do so too.

good luck.

Kvon2, make the move. VA is a lot less fascist, although Richmond is trying its darnedest to change that. As far as a nice IWB carry gun, I love my Ruger LC9s, very accurate and super dependable.

Brooklyn to Bergen Country NJ down to Middlesex County NJ (exit 9)and now Bucks County PA.

So all you need to do for your PA License to Carry is to apply directly to the Sherrif's office at Doylestown (there's a satellite office in Levittown), and in about 2 weeks you'll have a LTCF that you would otherwise stand no chance of obtaining based on all the other places you've lived!

After my seven month work assignment in Salem Co. New Jersey, in the far southern part of the state which is a dangerous area to travel into, and where I could not legally protect myself by carrying a firearm, you have no idea how much I appreciate my own PA LTCF, and to the New Jersey "lemmings" who allow their politicians to squander their constitutional rights away with draconian gun laws, it really comes down to the principle of the whole thing!

I am a PA resident (Chester County). You are wise to move here as our gun laws, at least for now, are excellent, especially for the Northeast. We are surrounded by communist states except for WV, and OH.

Currently, I carry either a CZ-75D PCR or Polish P-83 9x18. The P-83 is single stack, and easy to carry concealed. I highly recommend them, especially for the price. Others have mentioned single stack 9MM's. The Walther PPS, Shield, and XDs are all good guns for CCW.

Out of state residents can no longer get PA carry permits .
BTW KAHR pistols now have a facility in Pike Co PA.

Congrats on breaking out! I left 4 years ago and got to a really gun friendly place here in Missouri. If you don't mind polymer the SAR B6P is a double stack that does great for me IWB. I don't see the need for a single stack when the double stack SAR is as thin a grip as I would find comfortable to shoot. Inexpensive as well and has fired every standard pressure 9mm ammo I've fed it. Hey, you're in a free state now don't limit your capacity if you don't really need to. Try one of these guns before you choose.

I know you said you prefer a external hammer, but in your price range, may I suggest a Shield? I know how you feel having escaped the communist state of Kalifornia a few years ago and the first thing I did was was get my CCW.

I tried the Shield and was sold. Very solid single stack pistol that I can carry all day and not even know it's there.

I too have my pa ltcf. I got it with little effort, but from what I've heard is that the Monroe County sheriff is a bit overzealous and has been known to deny permit requests. I wasn't sure if there were other counties, specifically those surrounding the Philadelphia area, that have similar sheriff.

Congrats on your escape from behind America's iron curtain and welcome to Free America. Not really sure where PA ranks in regards to firearms ownership as compared to other states but still, light years ahead of the communist states!
Anyways, there are a few single stack exposed hammer designs you can look at. Sig P225/P6, S&W 39 series including their 3913 that is geared more towards CCW, 1911 clones like the Star BM that I got for my son to grow into for example, or the spendy and more of a collectors item Walther P5 to name a few. The S&W Shield is a good weapon of choice if you can go a striker fired route as well as the new Glock single stack 9mm offerings as well.

I wouldn't necessarily characterize NJ as communist, but it's definitely socialist when it comes to suppressing 2A RIGHTS, and everybody has 2A rights regardless of where you live.

PA is definitely light years better than NJ with regards to firearms rights, but watch yourself if you are traveling or visiting Philly, discretion is always the better part of valor!

Speaking of valor, I'd go with a DW Valor Commander myself!
