Good bye New Jersey

I'm finally giving NJ the kiss off and relocating to Pennsylvania.

Looking for suggestions for an IWB carry semi-auto. I would prefer a single stack, external hammer weapon.

My daughter swears by her PPK .380 and I do liove my Hi Power but it is quite a bit wide.

I am opoen to calibers as well.

X2 on the 938, cats meow for iwb carry in my opinion. With that said, I went the couple hundred dollar cheaper route and picked up a Kahr CM9, I am very happy with it. Also look at a Springfield XDs.

You'll have to change your location in your profile. ;)

Congratulations on the move. Single-stack, hammer-fired, eh? Any preference on materials?

If you want to go the steel-framed route, it sounds like that Hi-Power or 1911 would fit the bill. There are folks that swear by both of those.

For polymer, well, Rock River makes a polymer 1911, but I think that's out of your price range. Beyond that, I'm afraid I'm out of any suggestions not already made by others.

After you pay the exiting tax you might not be able to afford it !
I would certainly prefer a single stack, 9mm or better. How about looking at some Kahr pistols [now they have a place in Pike Co PA ! ]

I like the SIG p239 SAS Gen II, also the HK p30sk V1 with decocker (a model with a manual safety is also available. The SIG was $700+ ; the HK was $535. Both are accurate, reliable pistols.

A Sig 938 seems to fit the bill.

I have the 238 (almost the same as a 938, just in .380) and it is a wonderful little gun to shoot and carry. With the 7 round extended mag the grip is pretty much the perfect size.

Congrats on moving, I'm sure you will be just a little bit happier. As for the carry gun, I like older S&W 3913 or a S&W 3904 if you want something a little bigger. They have stainless slides and alu frames and are easy and smooth shooters with single stack mags. One thing you did not mention was weather you want a DA/SA or DAO, either could be had with an exposed hammer. I swapped the bobbed hammer on my 3913 and put a standard hammer on it.

Take a look at the CZ75D PCR. It is hammer fired in 9mm. It does have a double stack magazine, but is fairly thin Just right for IWB carry. IMO

Welcome back to the United States of America

Single-stack, external hammer?

The Sig 238/938 will fill the bill, but the several I have tried have horrendous triggers. I'm fairly sure that could be fixed, but they are a Timex.

In comparison, the Springfield EMP is truly a Rolex. Unfortunately, it is also priced like one. :) New, anyway. You might find a used one at the high end of your price range.

First off, congrats on a successful escape.

I'd go with some form of Sig - P238/938 or P239. Handle beforehand, shoot if at all possible.

I know you said single stack, but you should celebrate! I strongly recommend a CZ 75B with 16 round magazines, baby! Congrats on your new life in a gun friendlier state!

Can't help you on holster advice but props for leaving Jersey. Oh and since I'm a native New Yorker I gotta ask. What exit?

The first thing you should do is get your PA License to Carry Firearms and be grateful since there is no way for you to get a carry permit in New Jerkey!
