I'll recommend the Sierra reloading manual. The appendices explain a lot of the terminology. There are graphs, charts and text explaining exterior ballistics. Trajectory, wind, etc. Beaucoup info about bullets used in reloading and loading data--which may eventually become useful to the reader.
IOW, not about "how to shoot", but a heckuva lot of background information for a shooter.

It depends on what you want to learn how to do with it.
What kind of rifle?
Precision short range target?
Long range hunting?
Self defense?
Action type competition?
It's a huge subject.

The USMC Marksmanship Manual and Jeff Cooper's "Art of the Rifle" would be the two I'd recommend first.
Keep in mind that you learn the basics of rifle marksmanship and safety, not necessarily the "manual of arms" with you own rifle.
There are thousands of different rifles in the world and the manuals and book cover the basics, not the details of operation of every rifle made.

For a Beginner?
Boy Scout Merit Badge book on Marksmanship (older versions available on Amazon etc) but I believe the new merit badge book is now re-titled "Rifle Shooting" (there is also a "Shotgun Shooting" book available as well, just FYI)
Keep it safe, simple, safe, fun and safe initially.
