Go to guns. Then and now

Then:

S&W Model 1917 with 45acp hardballs and a moonclip reload of the same.

Now:

S&W Model 13 with 38+P FBI loads and a speedloader with the same.

The ol' 1917 is semiretired now. At 92, it deserves a break. ;)

The nightstand gun always changes. I am comfortable enough with every one I own. However the 870/surefire is always close by just in case.

Due to the fact that I live in a rental my go to is my carry which is a S&W M&P 45. Once I move it will be the 45 and an SKS 7.62x39 mm. Previous go to for home security was a 45 bersa thunder uc, before that a custom 1911 Colt 45. Always near was my 870 express remington loaded with the first shot of #6 copper plated, with the rest 000 buck shot.

1975, Stevens Model 34 .22 --> Ruger RST-6 .22 --> Colt Mark IV .45 --> Colt Delta Elite 10mm --> HKUSP45C --> Kimber UCDP .45 today

I have owned and carried handguns for almost 35 years, so "then" covers a lot of territory, most of which I can no longer remember.... Today, though, my go-to/carry guns are a 9mm CZ75 on the hip and a Ruger +p .38 LCR in the pocket.

Your '12ga flashlight' in the middle must have a 'hellofa' kick :D That thing would scare BG to death, you wouldn't even need to fire it :D

I have them stashed all over the house so it depends on what room I'm in. (No kids at home anymore). My nightstand gun for the past couple of years has been a S&W 686+ 3 inch, 7 shot loaded with .38 +P. There always a 1911 floating around as well...

My Go - To, from the day I first bought one, has always been a Smith & Wesson Model 19.

I suspect that it always will be my go-to gun.

I have a p6 on the nightstand and a winchester defender 12 gauge under the bed...I also have my carry gun (m&p 40c) close by

Mossberg 590, 6 shots of 00 Buck and then 3 Slugs following them. Colt Night Defender on my hip and a S&W Airweight 38 bobbed hammer. Then the ever ready S&W Model 66 loaded with double tap hotload .357. I have a .380 Beretta Cheetah that the little woman could grab, but most likely she'd have the baby in the closet.

I became a devout Sig fan after my 226.

Dead reliable, and except for my Charter Arms 22, the handgun I can shoot the best.

Got a mini-14 alongside my bed although...it may not be the "go to".

A few categories ;)

Go-to: As in Self-defence. Sig 226. Then Mini-14.

Go-to: Coyote/fox/bobcat in the chickens/stray dogs harassing cows: Winchester .223 Bolt action.

Go-to: See a monster deer/passing elk/etc(Hunting season...mostly...J/king): .264 or .270 Winchester.

It takes 12Gauge batteries...:D

I promise I didn't try to make it look like a mall ninja weapon!:D - All Ive ever done to it was put a side saddle on it and pull a shell holder over the stock. The light on the end was a hand held I already had. I don't want to run out of ammo, and I don't want to be in the dark and not be able to see, or identify what I might have to shoot.

I live where fire arms have to be under lock and key, and running is required by law.

Back when I had need of a carry pistol it was a Star BM. Not that I had any say about it. At least until I could pick up a 1911 locally. And as soon as I could get my hands on a Vig, I'd loose the FAL. Third time out I was issued a Israeli 1911 and a Israeli issued Mosin Nagant. Still have a couple of them. Always carried a 1903 colt 32 as a backup.

Beretta M9, 18 round MDS mag, 147gr talon. Backed up by a 870 in the corner on my side with an MP15 under the bed. Wifes side is am M&P 9mm, that may change to another M9.
